EXTRAS NEEDED: Who: KING - 2015 Movie, filmed all in Cleveland OH Where: MLK High School - 1651 E 71st St, Cleveland, OH 44103 When: June 27th, 2015 at 12:30 PM What: Extras of all ages needed for filming a graduation scene. We need extras as the friends, family, extend family, teachers, and anyone else you could envision attending a graduation ceremony. This is the climax of the story, where our main character delivers his graduation speech, finally taking a stand against gang violence. Please feel free to dress however YOU would if you were attending any other graduation. This graduation scene is NOT a black tie event, people will come dressed in everything from a jacket and tie to t-shirt and shorts. And the director WANTS that kind of eclectic mix. BRING ANYONE! WE ARE HOPING FOR 300 EXTRAS!All non-paid/non-union. But all will get movie credit! HIGH SCHOOL AGE EXTRAS: If you wish to be in the graduating class of 2018, GUYS, please come in shirt and tie, GIRLS in a nice graduation-like dress. Details: IF you plan on being an extra, please plan on arriving NO LATER THAN 12:30 PM to fill out paperwork etc. We will begin filming around 1:30, please expect directions when you arrive on set. This is a new, full time position offered for the 2015-2016 season. Weathervane Playhouse is a well-established, community theater entering into its eighty-first season. Responsibilities of this position include: * Designing, or mentoring the volunteer design, of 12 productions between July 2015 and July 2016. Joint responsibilities with the Lighting Designer/Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director include: * Work with the Artistic Director to discuss designs, budgets and any special considerations that each show or the shop may need. * Work with directors to fulfill production concepts. * Attend Production Board meetings and assist the board with designer recruitment, training and support. * Attend production meetings and share ideas, progress and challenges. * Attend technical rehearsals and assist with volunteer training when necessary. * Responsible for recruiting volunteer designers for productions. * Responsible for rigging and maintaining scenery, supervising the artistry and proficiency of scene changes during technical rehearsals, maintaining shop equipment, ordering necessary supplies, and managing a shop budget. * Sharing sound and/or properties design and training responsibilities with the TD team volunteer designers for 12 theater productions in the 2015-2016 season. * Sharing stage management training responsibilities with the TD team. * Respectfully work with and train volunteers in all areas of technical theatre. * A positive attitude and the ability to work as a team player. It has since played in theaters all over the USA and the English speaking world and is due for revival in London in 2013. Bernard is planning a romantic weekend with his chic Parisian mistress in his charming converted French farmhouse, whilst his wife, Jacqueline, is away. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to prepare gourmet delights, and has invited his best friend, Robert, along too to provide the alibi. It's foolproof; what could possibly go wrong? Well.... suppose Robert turns up not realizing quite why he has been invited. Suppose Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers, and consequently determined that Jacqueline will NOT leave for the weekend. Suppose the cook has to pretend to be the mistress and the mistress is unable to cook. Suppose everyone's alibi gets confused with everyone else's. An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as Bernard and Robert improvise at breakneck speed.

Review of "A Little Night Music" at Porthouse Theatre

Isn't it rich: Porthouse's wonderful 'A Little Night Music' Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal Member, International Association of Theatre Critics Of all the music in "A Little Night Music" - Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's melancholy ode to discovering love, reviving love and outliving love - "Send in the Clowns" is the show's signature number. And, thanks to numerous cover versions by popular artists, it is its most recognizable. Sondheim wrote the song in 1973 specifically for actress Glynis John, who originated and won a Tony for the featured role of Desirée Armfeldt, the worldly Scandinavian seductress who is now a flirtatious middle-aged actress barnstorming across Europe during the turn-of-the-last-century. The song is sung in the second act, after Desirée comes to the painful realization that the man she is with means nothing to her and the dream of reuniting with her now-married former lover, Fredrik Egerman, is just a delusion. Dame Judi Dench starred as Desirée in the musical's 1995 London revival and, based largely on what Variety called a "brilliant, wrenching" performance of "Send in the Clowns," won the Olivier award for Best Actress. With Bernadette Peters in the lead role during the show's Broadway revival in 2009, The New York Times noted that "Send in the Clowns" was sung "with an emotional transparency and musical delicacy that turns this celebrated song into an occasion of transporting artistry [and] an indelible moment in the history of musical theater." Yes, that's the baggage that comes with this character-defining, show-stopping, highly anticipated musical number in a show that Sondheim fans claim is filled with them. In this dazzling Porthouse production, Terri Kent's Desirée is strangely reserved and her "Send in the Clowns," though beautifully supported by five string instruments (special kudos to Dan Peters on cello) under Jonathan Swoboda's superb direction, is neither transportive nor memorable. Prior to the film, there will be performances from local Bhutanese and Burmese groups, food from Nepali Kitchen and Stray Dog Cart and stories from former refugees who now call Akron home. When? Four Sudanese children are orphaned after their village is massacred in the Second Sudanese Civil War. Years later, these youths are among 3600 selected for resettlement in America, only to have the one girl among them sent to Boston, while the three boys must to make a new life in Kansas City.
