The Dark Room is an ongoing event held on the second Tuesday of each month. The Dark Room affords emerging and veteran playwrights the space and resources to develop new works. Warhol meets a young revolutionary who throws his plans into chaos and opens the pop icon's eyes. This fictionalized portrait on this famous visit leaves the audience asking, "who was the artist and who was the revolutionary?" Written by Brent Askari, Andy Warhol in Iran is directed by local legend Sarah May. Running in the Studio Theater from October 3 through November 2, 2025, this play is presented in arrangement with Theatrical Rights Worldwide. "Andy Warhol in Iran will resonate for anyone who cares about history. Or the present. Or the future." The Chicago Sun-Times Director Sarah May shared, "I am thrilled to bring this wonderful play to life at Beck Center! Persian American playwright Brent Askari has written a 'feel good' play for our troubled times. Stow Players presents Kung Fu Kitty by Patrick Rainville and Jacob Dorn. Directed by Cris Hertle. Audition dates: September 15 and 16 starting at 5:30PM Performances November 14 at 6:30PM, November 15 and 16 at 2:30PM. We are casting children ages 6 to 10 for this play. Kids should have a monologue of less than one minute prepared and memorized to present at the audition. Children will also be reading from the script. This show will run less than 45 minutes and is meant to be an introduction to theater for young actors. Auditions take place at the Heritage Barn, located at 5238 Young Road in Stow. Greetings all, I am excited to offer two sound bath opportunities in early September. The first one is my Elemental Sound Bath on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 3-4 p.m., at Healing with the Horses in Chesterland. Tap into the elements of nature via sound healing instruments connected to each of the elements -- earth, water, air, fire and ether -- as you are guided on a journey of relaxation and healing. Featuring my newest instrument -- the Atlantis Chau Gong! The second will be a partially interactive sound journey, Soundscapes I, on Monday, Sept. 8, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Stella Luna in Middleburg Heights, including an opportunity to co-create a healing soundscape using my crystal singing bowls. Seat of the Pants' Salon Series is back for another season with public readings of new plays, followed by audience feedback sessions to provide help as the playwrights prepare for their next rounds of edits and rewrites. First up we're excited to welcome *India Nicole Burton* back to Cleveland for a reading of her play, *The Witching Hour. The Witching Hour *is part of a trilogy of plays chronicling the lineage of an African American family with supernatural powers. On a dark, stormy 1940 night, Sipsy arrives at her Aunt Pepsi's storefront - beaten, battered, and near death. Her arrival brews trouble, bringing family secrets to light and forcing Pepsi to reveal that the family possesses supernatural gifts. What will the relatives do when their inherited talents become known to the community? Directed by Jeannine Gaskin and produced by Benjamin Gregg, the reading features the acting talents of Ashley Aquilla, Zyrece Crump, Isaiah Gaskin, Samia Keaton, Drew Pope, and Tamicka Scruggs. You have two opportunities to catch this exciting story - both on Saturday, September 20th. We're going to host *TWO *sessions of each workshop to create even more accessibility for our NE Ohio community. For each of our workshops this year, we will hold one session in a Cleveland-adjacent location and - *thanks to a generous grant from ArtsinStark* - we will hold an additional session in a Stark County location for those who live further south.
