The Dark Room is an ongoing event held on the second Tuesday of each month. The Dark Room affords emerging and veteran playwrights the space and resources to develop new works. It offers a venue to workshop plays, novels, poems, or any other written work in a supportive, yet critical environment. *Tuesday, December 12th* *The Parrish Hall at CPT* (Just east of the Gordon Square Theatre Box Office) Cleveland Public Theatre 6415 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, OH 44102 *FREE Beer, Wine and Snacks!* *6:45 - 7:00pm: *Sign-up begins for writers and actors (space is limited). The old saying: " If you don't breathe, you don't sing" can be understood at, say, a casual level, but there is a much deeper meaning to that, too. And it applies to speech mode as well. If you are still running out of air during certain phrases, come and see me. If you are beginning to run short of air because you are getting older or THINK that is why, come and see me. If you are still not able to get ALL of your breath during the "Catch" breath, come and see me. Most of us are holding our breath MOST of the time and think we aren't; that also reduces your range. You lose your high notes first, you know! Most of what limits us is due to what we don't know about breathing. Give me a chance to help you make improvements. Directed by Scott Spence, music direction Larry Goodpaster, and choreography by Lauren Marousek. Running in the Studio Theater from May 30 to June 29, 2025, with THURSDAY June 12, and June 26, 2025 performances. This musical is produced with special arrangements with MTI Musical Theatre International. Artistic Director Scott Spence, also director of The Robber Bridegroom, says, "Like A Chorus Line which closes our season this summer, The Robber Bridegroom is celebrating a 50th anniversary. The 1970s brought such a unique perspective to much of American Theater in terms of how we told our stories. Both musicals have that collective ensemble approach where company members relate their stories and come together to tell those tales. And the tales in The Robber Bridegroom are of the tallest nature! ROAD® is an educational outreach program that is celebrating over 25 years and has touched over 11,000 lives. ROAD® has two 10-week sessions with 2nd grade students. At the end of the program, some students are chosen to receive partial to full dance scholarships to Nan Klinger Excellence in Dance. ROAD® is also looking for a part-time summer instructor.
