Looking for a male actor on Thursday night 8 PM till possibly 1 AM, for a Short called "Behind", a horror piece. We are renting equipment and really want to run it to the ground to test it. We have the Ronin Stabalizer, plan is to make 1 solid take throughout the short. It is a non-union,paid job. Great to network and meet the local crew for Cleveland, and provide reel footage. The classes are centered around The Sanford Meisner Technique. Meisner training is an interdependent series of exercises that build upon one another. The more complex work supports a command of dramatic text. Meisner students work on a series of progressively complex exercises to develop an ability to improvise, to access an emotional life, and finally to bring the spontaneity of improvisation and the richness of personal response to text. This is what is commonly known as "method acting." Through the Meisner system, the actor becomes fearless and gains a strong confidence that can be applied to all areas of life. The four week class helps the young actor develop a love for the work, and with this, the ability to survive and work as an actor. I am available for work in property preservation, groundskeeping and leasing (plus turning over apartments) in Property Management. I have years of leasing experience, plus know how to supervise turning apartments (have my own freelance renovations staff) and maintaining properties through preservation. I can offer 50 hours a week as a groundskeeper and leasing agent (which can include turning apartments and monitoring property, as well as property preservation for homes). In exchange I am asking free rent on the grounds or near the grounds. I could be on site for unlimited hours and on call at your convenience. The Hudson Players announce auditions for The People vs. Friar Laurence, The Man Who Killed Romeo and Juliet

The Hudson Players will hold open auditions for the brand new, fast-paced, slapstick, musical comedy The People vs. Friar Laurence: The Man Who Killed Romeo and Juliet by Ron West and Phil Swann on Sunday and Monday, February 14 and 15 at 7pm each night. Call backs, if needed will be Tuesday, February 16. Auditions will be held at the Barlow Community Center - 41 S. Oviatt St., Hudson, OH 44236. Director, Fig Jankowski is looking for nine versatile actors (6 male, 3 female) to portray the variety of characters found in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in a new light. This vaudeville-style musical comedy is a present-day retake on Shakespeare's famous tale, told from the point of view of Friar Laurence, and will require all but one actor to play multiple roles, but will not feature typical Shakespearean accents (aside from one fellow, who jokingly attempts a few phrases from the Bard). Please come prepared to sing 32 bars of a light-hearted or humorous song - sheet music in the correct key must be provided for the accompanist; no a cappella auditions. (Songs from the show are welcome, but not required.) Those auditioning will also be asked to participate in a short dance/movement exercise and a cold reading from the script covering a variety of characters. A PERUSAL SCRIPT IS AVAILABLE AT THE HUDSON LIBRARY (this production will use alternatives to the adult language found in the original script). This fast-paced, slapstick, musical comedy will be making its Ohio debut with the Hudson Players performances on April 29, 30, May 6, 7, 13, 14, 15*, 20 & 21! From Connie Williams, The Akronist <http://www.theakronist.com/>: I had the pleasure of previewing Wandering Aesthetics’ latest storytelling production, 'Tails From The Witch's Cauldron (Stories of Blood, Sex and Rock 'N' Roll),' which opens Friday, Jan. 29, at SageRock at 15 Broad Street in Akron. Co-artistic Directors Benjamin Rexroad and Kyle Jozsa and actress Nici Romo collaborate to create a storytelling experience like none I’ve experienced before. I’ve been to a great number of Wandering Aesthetics events in the past, and they often lean toward the unconventional. With this production, they take unconventional theatre to a whole different level. 'Tails From The Witch's Cauldron' is wacky, interactive, vaudeville-flavored fun. Jozsa charms the audience with his masterful storytelling skills and his mischievous demeanor. Romo’s gift for physical comedy and her fearless onstage abandon combine to deliver a winning performance. Rexroad, who directs 'Tails From The Witch's Cauldron,' makes a rare onstage appearance that has me hoping he will make a habit of it. I mentioned earlier that this show is interactive, and it certainly is. The storytellers do not just break the “fourth wall"; they obliterate it. The audience is told at the outset to feel free to interact with the performers. I asked Rexroad about this element of the production and he replied, “The audience can be as much a part of it as they want to be.” He went on to add that he enjoys trying new ideas and experimenting with what he finds interesting. Three projects proposed by Wandering Aesthetics Theatre Company are finalists in the Knight Arts Challenge, a competition sponsored by the Knight Foundation. Winners of the Knight Arts Challenge will be announced in March, and recipients are required to raise matching funds to receive their awards. Wandering Aesthetics is hosting this production and will also host other events in an effort to raise the funds needed to receive the full sum awarded so that they may continue to bring innovative arts programming to Akron and beyond. He began his teaching career in 2010 with Weathervane Playhouse. Jozsa has worked full-time as a preschool teacher, developed curriculum for traditional and non-traditional classes alike and led many workshops for children of all age groups. He currently works as a Teaching Artist for the Artful Living Program out of Stark County as well as part-time at Gymboree in Strongsville and is working to bring a play-based enrichment program to the Akron area. Benjamin Rexroad is a theatre artist with a passion for poetry, travel and community. Through teaching, volunteering, hosting events and creating performances designed to actively engage the community, he is driven to be a source of positive energy in the world. Benjamin has trained with John O’Neal of Junebug Productions (Color Line Project), SITI Company (2010 Skidmore Summer Intensive) and was one of 25 international directors selected to participate in the 2014 Directors Lab North in Toronto. Since establishing Heads Up Productions six years ago (which evolved into Wandering Aesthetics), he has produced or directed 65 performances/events. In 2011, he was presented with the Akron Arts Alive Award in the Rising Young Star/Leadership category. The same year, he helped launch Akron’s only African-American theatre company and received a grant to tour a role-playing workshop about racism, poverty, class and social status. In 2013, Benjamin and his partner completed a thru-hike of the 2,185.9-mile Appalachian Trail. After a stint working for a title and escrow agency in Parma, Benjamin now works for both the Akronist and ArtsNow (SummitLive365.com) helping to build the arts and culture community throughout Akron and Summit County. Benjamin is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Young Professionals of Akron, Torchbearers Class of 2016 and the Downtown Akron Partnership Emerging Leaders Board.
