*The Dark Room at Cleveland Public Theatre on December 12th* *This month: Open Mic! * The Dark Room is a place where writers take center stage and their work has a chance to grow. The Dark Room is an ongoing event held on the second Tuesday of each month. The Dark Room affords emerging and veteran playwrights the space and resources to develop new works. It offers a venue to workshop plays, novels, poems, or any other written work in a supportive, yet critical environment. *Tuesday, December 12th* *The Parrish Hall at CPT* (Just east of the Gordon Square Theatre Box Office) Cleveland Public Theatre 6415 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, OH 44102 *FREE Beer, Wine and Snacks!* *6:45 - 7:00pm: *Sign-up begins for writers and actors (space is limited). Writers can bring up to 10 minutes of work to be read; actors will be cast on the spot! Balanced delightfully between affection and adversity, it is the whimsical, life-affirming chronicle of a brilliant scientist who fights to preserve the dying languages of far-flung cultures, only to neglect the promise and passion of his own. Rehearsals will be Monday - Friday, between 5:30-8:30 pm. You will not be called every day, only when you are needed to work. Please note - there may be some Saturday rehearsals as well. Attendance at ALL tech week rehearsals, sitzprobe on Friday, July 19, 6-9 PM (where the orchestra and cast will play and sing through the show), as well as all performances, are mandatory. Paul Kroeger continues to offer voice and breathing lessons to advanced singers as well as to those less-advanced. The old saying: " If you don't breathe, you don't sing" can be understood at, say, a casual level, but there is a much deeper meaning to that, too. And it applies to speech mode as well. If you are still running out of air during certain phrases, come and see me. If you are beginning to run short of air because you are getting older or THINK that is why, come and see me. If you are still not able to get ALL of your breath during the "Catch" breath, come and see me. Most of us are holding our breath MOST of the time and think we aren't; that also reduces your range. You lose your high notes first, you know! Most of what limits us is due to what we don't know about breathing. Give me a chance to help you make improvements. Closer to home, though, language is failing him.
