Looking for a male actor on Thursday night 8 PM till possibly 1 AM, for a Short called "Behind", a horror piece. We are renting equipment and really want to run it to the ground to test it. We have the Ronin Stabalizer, plan is to make 1 solid take throughout the short. It is a non-union,paid job. Great to network and meet the local crew for Cleveland, and provide reel footage. The classes are centered around The Sanford Meisner Technique. Meisner training is an interdependent series of exercises that build upon one another. The more complex work supports a command of dramatic text. Meisner students work on a series of progressively complex exercises to develop an ability to improvise, to access an emotional life, and finally to bring the spontaneity of improvisation and the richness of personal response to text. This is what is commonly known as "method acting." Through the Meisner system, the actor becomes fearless and gains a strong confidence that can be applied to all areas of life. The four week class helps the young actor develop a love for the work, and with this, the ability to survive and work as an actor. Benjamin Rexroad is a theatre artist with a passion for poetry, travel and community. Through teaching, volunteering, hosting events and creating performances designed to actively engage the community, he is driven to be a source of positive energy in the world. Benjamin has trained with John O’Neal of Junebug Productions (Color Line Project), SITI Company (2010 Skidmore Summer Intensive) and was one of 25 international directors selected to participate in the 2014 Directors Lab North in Toronto. In 2011, he was presented with the Akron Arts Alive Award in the Rising Young Star/Leadership category. The same year, he helped launch Akron’s only African-American theatre company and received a grant to tour a role-playing workshop about racism, poverty, class and social status. In 2013, Benjamin and his partner completed a thru-hike of the 2,185.9-mile Appalachian Trail. After a stint working for a title and escrow agency in Parma, Benjamin now works for both the Akronist and ArtsNow (SummitLive365.com) helping to build the arts and culture community throughout Akron and Summit County. If she passes the Queen’s test, she will marry Prince Dauntless which in turn allows everyone else in the kingdom to get married. No pressure. She is a bundle of energy with a huge belt, but also can be warm and sweet. Definitely has an edge to her. Must be a triple threat: singer, dancer, actor. Originally played by Carol Burnett. Again, no pressure. We want a unique Winnifred. A fearless performer with lots of personality. • Prince Dauntless (Lead, 20-30)—Good looking, but under his mother’s thumb. Clueless, but game. Must sing and dance. • Queen Aggravain (40s-50s)—Think the Evil Queen in Snow White. Must sing, dance (a bit), and act. • King Sextimus the Silent (40s-50s)—Mute until a prophecy is fulfilled. (One line at end of play) Dominated by the Queen. Constantly dashing off to catch wenches and ladies of the court but never succeeds. Think Harpo Marx. Many scenes with lots of pantomime including two songs. Non-singing role. • Lady Larken (20s-30s)—Sweetly beautiful with a beautiful voice, in love with Sir Harry. • Sir Harry (20s-30s)—Herald of the Courts, a bit of a prig with less than modern thoughts about the role of women. Big, handsome, sweet, stolid, with a terrific singing voice. • Jester (20s-30s)—Dancer and singer with a terrific solo and many scenes. • Minstrel (20s-40s)—Opens the show with a story. Nice if he plays the lute, mandolin or even guitar. Some dance. Many scenes. • Sir Harold and Lady Beatrice—Dance leads • Ensemble (20s-60s)—Many good smaller roles (named Ladies and Knights, the Wizard [non-singing], specialty dancers [with some ballet?] with good scenes and a line here and there, both dialogue and singing. We will create an original experience of a sweetly powerful play in a modern way. Everything Old is New Again!
