Closer to home, though, language is failing him. Solon Center for the Arts is accepting applications for a part-time Instructor to fill the position of Musical Director for upcoming musical theater productions. Instructors lead and act as a role model to a group of participants in a specific area of the performing/fine arts. Instructors develop, implement and engage participants in classes, lessons, workshops, performances, pop-up events, etc. in their specific field/specialty. Primary tasks and responsibilities for this position include: • Attend auditions and collaborate on casting with the show director and choreographer. • Attend creative team meetings with Director and Choreographer to develop the overall vision of the show. • Plan, prepare and attend rehearsals. Adhere to a teaching schedule set by the director or Theater Coordinator. • Lead vocal warm ups and exercises, as well as teach music to the cast. • Accompany cast on piano during first half of rehearsals, as sound tracks will be used for the second half of rehearsals and for performances (no conducting, no musicians) • Instruct and manage a group of approximately 8 – 25 students. This position is for approximately 2 - 4 hours per week with additional hours for tech week and performances. • Fall/Winter Production Rehearsals o Wednesday Evenings and/or Saturday Mornings • Winter/Spring Production Rehearsals o Tuesday Evenings and/or Thursday Evenings • Additional hours required for tech week and performances of Main Stage Shows • Summer Camp hours for Musical Theater Camp may be included in June & July Qualified applicants must have two years of teaching experience as a Musical Director (Theater) or Choir Director. Bachelor’s degree in Music, Theater or Music Education from an accredited institution preferred. Candidates for this position will work closely with the Theater Department Coordinator and must be able to work with students of all ages and skill levels, with a specific focus on youth grades 4 – 8. Applicants must be professional and display leadership qualities in and out of the classroom and may be the lead instructor during rehearsals. In addition, the applicant should possess excellent problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills. Applicants must be able to work in a team environment. This position is slotted as a P3 on Solon’s part-time wage scale which offers a starting range from $17.00/hour. Compensation will be determined based upon previous education, performance, and teaching experience. Enter Evilina of the Muggleworth Advertising Agency. Evilina attempts to force Jack into signing over his frost formula. When her original plot fails, Evilina steals the formula. However, only Jack knows about the necessary "secret ingredient." *What Could Go Wrong the Night Before Christmas? * Story: A host attempts to do a lovely reading of “The Night Before Christmas” but is stymied by every imaginable interruption. Between the children in the wrong costumes, card playing mice and a thin Santa, our poor host is about to have a meltdown! In the end, our host finishes the poem, Santa hurries off to make the rest of his deliveries, and the audience is energized with the fun of the Christmas season. *Red Barn Youth Theater Auditions * for 2 one-acts: *Snow White Lite* by Jacob Dorn Directed by Richie Lynch and *The Great American Talent Show* by Joseph Robinette Directed by Greg Dziama *Audition Dates: *Monday, April 18 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm and Wednesday April 20 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. *Show Dates: *July 22 - July 24, 2022 on Friday and Saturday at 7pm, Sunday at 2pm. *The Plays: * 8-12 year olds will present *Snow White Lite*, an easy, breezy adaptation of the classic fairy tale. The FIVE dwarves don't need help with cooking or cleaning, so they hand Snow White a plunger and put her to work. When the wicked Queen, disguised in Groucho glasses, tries to finish her off, a quick response from Prince Heimlich saves her, and the day! Cast size is 8-10 characters. Rehearsals for *Snow White Lite* will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:30 pm starting on Monday, May 2, 2022. 13-17 year olds will present *The Great American Talent Show*. It is the final night of the yearlong TV talent show to end all talent shows! The finalists anxiously await their final shot at fame and fortune, while the three self-important judges cajole or praise the contestants in hilarious ways. Don't feel that your singing or dancing skills are great? Don't worry, neither are theirs! And wait until you hear who finally wins! Cast size is 8-10 characters. Rehearsals for *The Great American Talent **Show* will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 pm starting on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. Open auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. *For the safety of all involved, those wishing to audition must be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. * No appointment is necessary. Auditions will be held at Clague Playhouse. Clague Playhouse is located at 1371 Clague Road, Westlake, Ohio 44145.
