Internship at Cleveland Public Theatre in Not-for-Profit Financial Management Range of Duties: Assist with financial record keeping and preparation of audited financial statements. * DATES & STIPEND: This 20 hour/week internship starts Aug 17th and can run as late to March 31st and pays $10/hour. * SUPERVISION: The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Assistant General Manager. * FOCUS: This internship will focus on not-for-profit financial management and record keeping. ? LEARNING GOALS: * To learn how to read and evaluate the meaning of financial statements. * To learn and experience the steps in preparing for a financial audit conducted by an outside auditor. * To learn basic bookkeeping using Intuit QuickBooks * To understand how accounting and financial management are practically applied in the day-to-day decision-making for a not-for profit performing arts organization. * To develop a clear understanding of the value of financial management in the life of an organization. ? EXAMPLES OF ANTICIPATED TASKS: * Preparation of financial reports, work papers and schedules for presentation to auditor * Participation in meetings with outside auditor * Entry of account payables and receivables into QuickBooks (previous knowledge not required) * Archiving of previous years financial records * Management of daily bank deposits. * Reconciliation of asset accounts and credit card accounts * Management of vendors and vendor bill * Other financial management tasks as needed This internship will also include exposure to a wide range of other arts management issues including marketing, fund-raising and theatrical production. The intern will work on a daily basis with experienced arts management professionals. Requirements: * One term of coursework in bookkeeping, accounting or finance * Must have completed two years of undergraduate study * Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfortable with learning new software packages * Solid communication (oral, written, and phone), interpersonal, and writing skills * Solid work ethic combined with a dry sense of humor * Candidates with experience in any aspect of community or academic theatre will be especially considered * Candidates with experience using QuickBooks will be especially considered About Cleveland Public Theatre: Cleveland Public Theatre features bold, new, adventurous and relevant works of performance. Cleveland Play House is still buzzing during the summer months. Take a look at what's new from America's first regional theatre: *“100 Season of Cleveland Play House” at Cleveland Public Library* A Display Exhibit at Cleveland Public Library, Main Branch, 2nd & 3rd Floor *FREE *Opening Reception: Saturday July 18, 2015 at 2:00pm, 2nd floor lobby of Literature Department Exhibit on display July – December 2015 during library business hours (Mon-Sat 10am-6pm) 100 Seasons at Cleveland Play House is a fascinating display exhibit that celebrates the past, present and bright future of America’s first professional regional theatre, and recipient of the 2015 Regional Theatre Tony Award.® The exhibit, which encompasses 15 display cases spread across the second and third floors of the Main Library at 325 Superior Ave. NE, features photographs and items spanning the entire history of CPH from its inception in 1915 to the present. Some of these never-before-seen items are on display for the first time. An opening exhibit reception will be led by CPH Director of Education Pamela DiPasquale. Light refreshments will be served, and the *Tony Award *will be on display during this opening event. The exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public. About STEP: Founded in 1995, CPT's Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP) celebrates its 21st year of providing rigorous arts education and job training for low income urban teens. Each year, the CPT Teaching Artists, led by Education Director Chris Seibert, select works of literature that serve as a starting point for the teens to create an original theatrical production. STEP participants meet five hours per day, five days per week to engage in acting, writing, movement, percussion, voice, dance, technical production and touring while developing valuable job skills such as timeliness, commitment and teamwork. The program culminates in the creation of an original theatrical production that tours to indoor and outdoor venues across the city. Through STEP, the youth see themselves as positive and inspirational forces, and watch as their work impacts the larger Cleveland community. Many youth return to the program year after year, eventually going on to assume leadership roles inside of the program. The merchant Antonio is approached for a loan by his dear friend Bassanio so that he may woo an heiress in another city. "My Way....a Musical Tribute to FrankSinatra" will have auditions on Monday July 21 and Tuesday July 22 at7:00PM. Looking for 2 women and two men any age. There are no parts for children or teens inthe production. Tom Meyrose will direct the show and Jess Stewart will be themusical director. Please come with two prepared songs; an up temposong and a ballad. Bring sheet music in the proper key. No a capella or recorded music for the singing audtions. Ability to read music is a plus.
