Summit Artspace invites young members of the community, 8 to 13 years old, to join the Saturday, Oct. 29 marathon reading of Goosebumps Frankenstein's Dog by R.L. Stine, during the 200th anniversary of Frankenstein. Event runs noon to 3 pm. A free family event! Would rather remain a child as long as possible instead of accepting the responsibilities that come with growing up. SCARECROW: Male (Range: Tenor, D3-A4) Tired of being a scarecrow and the prospect of not going anywhere. Embarks on the journey to see The Wiz in hopes he can provide a brain. TIN MAN: Male (Range: Baritone, E3-A4) Human at one time. Lost all his limbs to a cursed axe. Joins in the journey in hopes the Wiz will provide him a heart because "it isn't enough to be good looking." LION: Male (Range: Baritone, G2-Bb4) Travels around the jungle scaring people, but has "a yellow streak a mile wide." Coward state stems from deeper mother issues and gets regular counseling from an owl. Joins in the journey to see the wiz to gain some courage. ADDAPERLE: Female (Range: Mezzo Soprano, F3-C5) Good Witch of the North. Has magic powers she refers to as "doing tricks." Her magic abilities don't always pan out as well as she would like them to. AUNT EM: Female (Range: Mezzo Soprano, G3-C5) Dorothy's Aunt. Life has not been easy for her and promises little else. Harsh towards Dorothy at times, but acts out of love. UNCLE HENRY: Male (Range: Non-Singing) Dorothy's Uncle. Physically run down from years of hard work on the farm. Often acts as the voice of reason towards Aunt Em. GATEKEEPER: Male (Range: Non-Singing) Guards the gate to the Emerald City. THE WIZ: Male (Range: Tenor, C3-A4) All powerful leader over the land of Oz. Hides his true nature behind the façade of a temperamental leader. His true identity is an enigma. EVILLENE: Female (Range: Alto, Bb3-Db5) Wicked Witch of the West. Low-down evil. Not a kind bone in her body nor kind thought in her rotten mind. LORD HIGH UNDERLING: Male (Range: Non-Singing) Weak coward. Evillene's number one. WINGED MONKEY: Male (Range: Non-Singing) Servant of the Wicked Witch of the West. Summoned to do her bidding. The mere mention of him brings fear. Sugarplum tea in November

Always a sell-out and this year is no exception including premiere seating for the performance!! The City Ballet of Cleveland will host its annual benefit, The Sugarplum Fairy Tea, on Sunday, November 13th from 2:00pm-4:30pm to support its upcoming Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker performances. The City Ballet of Cleveland is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, whose mission is to establish a ballet company of the highest artistic caliber that serves its communities through performance and education. This year’s Tea returns to the Cleveland Skating Club in Shaker Heights. Families will have an opportunity to take pictures with the Sugarplum Fairy, decorate their own crown or edible wand, complete other fun crafts, have a special reading of The Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker and enjoy delectable desserts. In addition, members of the company will perform at 3:00 pm. There will also be an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for Nutcracker Baskets, Spa Packages, and other exciting items. Beck's "Little Mermaid" Seeks Two Dancers

Beck Center in Lakewood seeks two additional dancers for our holiday production of Disney's "*The Little Mermaid*" (running Dec. 2nd thru Dec. 31st). Rehearsals have just begun, and we are looking for performers who are available to jump right in. Ideally we are looking for performers who move very well, and are between the ages of 14 and 19. Both Female and male performers will be considered. A rare opportunity to interact with Andrés González, Chief of Police, Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) Police Department and to see an excerpt from "Objectively/Reasonable: A Community Response to the Shooting of Tamir Rice, 11/22/14" is coming up at CPAC's fifth and final Creative Intersections event, Moving Forward<http://cultureforward.org/Our-Programs/Creative-Intersections/Moving-Forward>. Chief Andrés González will start the event by speaking on how he has seen arts and culture working to make the community safer and what factors artists and arts and culture organizations should consider when developing programs in this area. Following his presentation will be some time for a Q&A. Playwrights Local will follow Chief González with an excerpt from documentary play, "Objectively/Reasonable: A Community Response to the Shooting of Tamir Rice, 11/22/14." This play focuses on the impact and aftermath of the shooting of Tamir Rice in Cleveland, Ohio. The critically acclaimed work is based on monologues collected from interviews with civic leaders, police officers, family members, legal experts, everyday Clevelanders and others close to the case. The performance will be followed by a 45-minute talk back between the cast and audience.
