CPT SEEKS EXTRAORDINARY VOLUNTEERS FOR STATION HOPE ON APRIL 30TH Cleveland Public Theatre is seeking extraordinary individuals to volunteer for STATION HOPE 2016. To learn more about Station Hope, watch this video<https://vimeo.com/159534313>. Station Hope, now in its third year, is on Saturday, April 30th from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. Station Hope is an all-ages community arts event featuring 250 artists performing social justice-inspired works at Cleveland's first authenticated Underground Railroad site, St. John's Episcopal Church. Visitors will wander the historic site and surrounding grounds to experience original works of theatre, dance, visual art, music and spoken word celebrating hope, history and present day struggles for freedom and change. Volunteers are an important part of making this event work, and we require a large and dedicated force of them to make this event the celebratory and reflective triumph that it has grown into in the last three years. Write haikus, greet audience or just help out...and earn a CPT t-shirt (not to mention our undying love)! *Adult Summer Dance Intensive Training* Dancing Wheels Company & School offers a two week Adult Summer Dance Intensive Training for dancers and dance enthusiasts 15 years and older. The first week of this intensive workshop includes instruction in composition, improvisation, repertory, and the Dancing Wheels technique based on traditional modern dance that is translated and adapted for dancers with and without disabilities. New this year, the second week curriculum will focus on training based on our teacher-training manual. We will take participants on a step-by-step guide of how to perform and teach our specific technique. Participants may register for the first week, the second week, or both. Kent State University at Stark Theatre presents These Shining Lives Kent State University at Stark's 2015-16 theatrical season will close with These Shining Lives by Melanie Marnich. The play will be performed on April 29 and 30 at 8 p.m. and on May 1 at 2:30 p.m. in the Kent State Stark Theatre, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township. American Sign Language interpretation will be provided for the performance on May 1. Set in the 1920s, this impactful true account chronicles the strength and courage of female factory workers who hand paint glow-in-the-dark watch faces. When their health declines, proving their employer has poisoned them with radium becomes a valiant legal battle. Their story of survival is beautifully tragic as they strive to improve conditions for future working women. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $7 for non-Kent State students, children under 17 and senior citizens. All Kent State students are admitted free of charge with current student ID.
