I am looking for some original music for my project, Emily. Emily tells the story of a little girl born with a severe case of hydrocephalus. Sadly, Emily passed away on Sunday May 15th after 417 days of life. She overcame so many obstacles and inspired, changed lives. We are working diligently to put together to celebrate and tell her story; to challenge people to go into the darkness and pull out the light. This video will be available for distribution, but proceeds will be given to the family and Duke University who specialize in hydrocephalus research as well as (hopefully coming soon) Emily Quinn foundation, so we are asking for original works both instrumental and vocal to help complete the story. Specially, acoustic guitar and piano, but also need a slower orchestral style piece as well as upbeat and happy. The final scene we want to include a vocal piece. This will be the only featured vocals because Emily couldn't talk, but she loved music and we want to end on a good note. You will of course receive credit for your work as well as a copy of the finished product. Again, this film is not for personal profit. Well, the Beachwood Community Theatre is giving you the "0 P P, Opportunity" to eat your words and enjoy them too! This Friday night and Saturday afternoon is your last chance to see them perform "13", A Jason Robert Brown Smash, musical about the events leading up to Evan Goldman's thirteenth birthday and Bar Mitzvah. Needless to say, the journey is not a smooth one. Jill Koslen-Freireich has done an amazing job of channeling the energy and talent of a cast of 37 teens and pre-teens from several East Side communities. Musical Director, John Krol and his musicians lead the students through an exciting and challenging musical score, And Julie Schullo choreographed them to dance with contagious enthusiasm. The cast varies in their experience and performance maturity, but that is to be expected of young actors. By double casting all the roles, Jill has given each actor the chance to shine and the chance to push themselves beyond their comfort zones. Some understand well how to "play the song", some are strong dancers, and others have great comedic timing. But all of them have come together as a strong company and serve the show well. Much of the power of this show is written into the songs so you are well advised to listen carefully to the lyrics. Come and join Evan Goldman and his friends as they allow us the return to those turbulent times and remind us that no matter what our age, we all have a little more homework to do. In Chagrin Valley Little Theatre’s production of CALENDAR GIRLS, a group of middle-aged women reveal the courage to help each other through difficult times. This heartfelt comedy about love, loss, and enduring friendships runs 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, June 3 – 25 on CVLT's Main Stage at 40 River Street in Chagrin Falls. The play was adapted by Tim Firth from the 2003 Miramax film of the same name (starring Helen Mirren) that he co-wrote with Juliette Towhidi. It's based on the true story of a group of Yorkshire, UK women, proving that there’s nothing more poignant or funny than real life. When Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia, her best friend Chris decides to honor his memory and their friendship with a gift to the cancer wing at the local hospital. She enlists their chapter of the Women's Institute, a volunteer service group, for help. However, the group's usual method of fund raising, consisting of producing and selling a calendar with photos of local churches and bridges, seems too pale to attract the kind of money they hope to raise. Instead they drop their inhibitions and enlist the help of a hospital porter / amateur photographer to create a calendar that raises eyebrows along with more than enough money to reach their goal. The calendar gains the friends unexpected global attention, which brings unexpected consequences. The real-life 'calendar girls' of Yorkshire sold over 88,000 copies of their original calendar in 1999, and hundreds of thousands of calendars in the following years. They have since raised millions of dollars for cancer research causes. Directed by Barbara L. Rhoades, CVLT's production of CALENDAR GIRLS offers logistical challenges along with typical staging wrinkles to be ironed out. “It’s a bit of a tease. A fan dance, really,” Rhoades said. "There’s a suggestion of nudity, but it’s not a peep show. The play is really about the women’s friendship and the lengths they will go to help and support each other, and about knowing when to let go. In the process, each character reveals more of her personality, determination, and strength.” Along with learning their lines and exploring their characters for the stage performance, the cast posed for a fun and blush-inducing June 2016 - June 2017 calendar that Chagrin Valley Little Theatre will sell for $10, with all proceeds donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Northern Ohio Chapter. Hi list, I received this in an email from the camp director where Eve 'n' Stephen will be working this summer. Since Neopal is a great conduit for our fellow artistes, I thought to pass it along in case you are looking for work this summer. Check out Camp Long Lake for the Arts and see what a beautiful place it is and all they are offering their campers.
