The Manhattan Project is a low-stakes, nonthreatening place for actors and playwrights to meet and work together. Based on the Theatre Lab model taught at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama and inspired by The Brooklyn Generator in New York, The Manhattan Project wants to introduce Cleveland actors and playwrights to each other by organizing a bi-monthly production of brand new 10-minute plays. Participating artists will meet early in the month and will be broken into teams, each with one playwright. The playwright will then be given a writing prompt to write a new 10-minute play based on the prompt and including all the team's actors. The rest of the evening the team members will get to know each other and get a feel for each other's skills and voices. The teams will reconvene later in the month to perform these plays for each other. These 10-minute plays are not an end in themselves. Through these small collaborations we hope to build relationships between the two most vulnerable artists in theatre; the actors who put themselves on stage and the playwrights who pour themselves onto the page. Perhaps these 10-minute plays will grow into longer works or maybe these collaborations will become partnerships on larger projects. The writer/director of The Deluge is looking for a female lead to help make a military style drama. This project is an unpaid and non-union, but meals will be provided on the days we shoot. Who I’m seeking to cast are: MARY: mid-late 20’s; she is Sean’s off-and-on again girlfriend and she cares for Sean, maybe too much at times. In her heart of hear she wants to make it work. She can see past all of Sean’s flaws, deep down she knows he’s a good guy. We begin filming June 6th-June 8th, sorry for the short notice, but I had a last minute cancellation. It was the first motion picture theater in Ohio to show a talking motion picture. The opening night film, and first talky played in Ohio was a pre-release of Paramount’s "Something Always Happens" starring Neil Hamilton and Esther Ralston. Today it serves as a community Civic Center, movie theatre, meeting place and entertainment facility. The crystal chandelier, Wurlitzer pipe organ (one of only four remaining in theaters across Ohio), and two spacious loges are just some of the features, which made this building worthy of being preserved. *Summary:* The theatre manager reports to and will assist the Palace Manager with their daily duties to help maintain, use and facilitate the daily functions of the theater. The Theatre Manager will work with their counter part to ensure that equipment is functioning, that dressing rooms and the stage is clean and ready to use, and help run and program live shows. Oberlin Choristers' Canterra Musica presents free concert June 5 in Cleveland Heights

*Arts in the Cathedral* is pleased to present *Canterra Musica*, the most advanced treble choir of *Oberlin Choristers, *directed by *Jennifer Call*, Oberlin Choristers’ Artistic Director*.* This free concert will take place*Sunday, June 5*, at *3:30 p.m*. at *Church of the Saviour* in Cleveland Heights. A freewill offering will be accepted. Canterra Musica’s summer tour repertoire includes Purcell's *Sound the Trumpet*, Brumfield’s *No Time*, and features Gwyneth Walker's *The Gift to Sing*, a work which the Choristers recently commissioned. This set will also be performed before the Manhattan Concert Productions Children's Choir Festival Choir at Carnegie Hall in June. *Canterra Musica*, comprised of auditioned singers in grades 7-12, has traveled each year since 1995. The choir has sung in world-class venues including the Sydney Opera House, Australia, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Ireland and Chartres Cathedral, France. The singers have also participated in festivals, honor choirs, and in collaboration with Oberlin College Opera Theatre, Cleveland Opera, Oberlin Summer Theatre Festival, and most recently as the guest choir for the world tour of Video Games Live. Founded in 1991, Oberlin Choristers serves the youth of Northeast Ohio offering an exceptional choral education through engaging rehearsals, excellence in performance, and transformative traveling experiences. Singers in grades K-12 are taught in five separate ensembles by master teachers. *Jennifer Call *is the Conductor of Canterra Musica as well as the Artistic Director of Oberlin Choristers. Prior to her appointment as Artistic Director in 2011, she spent over a decade as music educator for all ages in public schools throughout Northeast Ohio. Her focused work in teaching the adolescent changing voice, led to the creation of the Changing Voice Institute held yearly at Oberlin Conservatory. "Evita" at Broadview Heights Spotlights Theater

Broadview Heights Spotlights’ Summer Youth Musical: Evita This year, the Broadview Heights Spotlights’ summer youth production is Evita. It will run June 16 –June 26, 2016. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances are at 7:00PM; Sunday matinees begin at 3:00PM. Based on the captivatingly true story of Eva Peron, the First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until her death in 1952, this musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice is almost entirely sung and features a compelling score that fuses haunting chorales with exuberant Latin, pop, and jazz influences. The title role has been double cast by two talented local actresses. Delia Brennan of Brecksville will perform on June 16, 18, 23, and 25; Alexandria Frendak of North Royalton will perform on June 17, 19, 24, and 26. Clay Hoffner will portray Juan Peron, former President of Argentina, and Dylan Grosh-Hoy will play Che, the show’s opinionated narrator. Remaining ensemble members are prominently featured throughout the show and include Grace Auble, David Bowler, Kate Brierley, Kyla Burks, Gabby Dachtler, Nicholas DeAngelis, Zoe Douglas, Audrey Halvorson, Molly Molina, Declan Newton, James Newton, Alicia Pedraza, Ellie Ritterbusch, Emma Rosberil, Lilly Saunders, Andrew Seifert, Ian Stewart, and Nathan Weagraff. “When people think of youth theater, Evita, isn’t usually on the top of their lists,” says Tim Anderson, Spotlights Education Director and co-director of this show. “But, Eva was only 15 years old when she left her small town to go to Buenos Aires.” Choosing a show that was relevant was also a factor. Evita premiered in London in 1978 and then on Broadway in 1979. “The script has some strong political themes that we saw as relatable to the current Presidential election,” Anderson said. “After auditions, we knew we made the right show choice. These kids are beyond talented!” Tim Anderson and Maggie Majercik return to co-direct this production, their eighth youth production collaboration in the same number of years. Ryan Bergeron serves as music director, and Stephanie Giammarco is the show’s costume designer. Former Spotlights’ youth show cast members Erica Leibold and Charlie Jones join the staff as production assistants, and Jaclyn Phelps is the producer. CPT'S MISSION IS TO RAISE CONSCIOUSNESS AND NURTURE COMPASSION THROUGH GROUND-BREAKING PERFORMANCES AND LIFE-CHANGING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS. CPT's programming agenda is to produce work that is outside the mainstream offering a much broader range of work available to the Cleveland public and expanding the impact and originality of theatre across the country. CPT strives to make work that is excellent, extra-ordinary, and nationally competitive. Our NEW New Play Development is based on our years of experience, community input, and key principles of: * focusing on artists; * valuing diversity of approach, aesthetics, and perspective; and * balancing impact with investment. We envision CPT as a nationally recognized hub for the development of new theatre that is extraordinary, edgy, and relevant. We hope to be a model for nurturing local talent in similar sized markets, the most regarded cultivator of new theatre for Cleveland audiences, a laboratory for promising research and investigation, and a launcher of nationally significant new plays. CPT will customize its support of projects and provide a festival forum to share that work with the public. We imagine, for example, audiences/artists together seeing a staged reading in one space, then seeing a short devised work in a studio, and then hanging out in a feedback session. Feedback at Entry Point will be low-risk and focus on nurturing projects. CPT will connect projects to mentors who can help offer feedback and guidance. In addition to serving local artists, Test Flight will also be open to national and international artists who wish to come to Cleveland to develop their pieces. Feedback for this series will be specific to each project, developed by the artist, and vetted/approved by CPT. CPT will suggest potential allies/mentors for each selected project. Feedback methodology will be customized, focusing on the direct relationship between CPT and the Playwright/Creators. The application process for Catapult will engage nationally recognized artistic leaders.
