FINAL WEEKEND: THREE TALL WOMEN BY EDWARD ALBEE AT CONVERGENCE-CONTINUUM This weekend will be your last chance to catch Albees funny, touching and thought-provoking masterwork now at convergence-continuum, featuring stunning performances by Lucy Bredeson-Smith, Teresa McDonough and Sarah Kunchik. THREE TALL WOMEN follows a feisty 92-year-old womans reflections on her family, now departed or estranged, and how it has shaped her life - a life filled with a mixture of pleasure, scandal, shame, regret, and satisfaction. The three women are 92, 52 and 26 years old. At one point they are three different women, but eventually they fascinatingly merge into the same women at three different phases of her long and turbulent life. THREE TALL WOMEN has its final performances this Thurs-Sat at 8 pm at the Liminis Theater, 2438 Scranton Rd, Cleveland 44113 in the historic Tremont neighborhood. Cleveland Public Theatre announces General Auditions for CPT's 16/17 Season Cleveland Public Theatre is holding general auditions for our 16/17 season. (Check out our season announcement on Cleveland.com<http://www.cleveland.com/onstage/index.ssf/2016/05/2016-17_season_at_clevel…>.) All Northeast Ohio actors interested in working with CPT are encouraged to audition. CPT has a history of multicultural casting and is committed to representing our community on stage. There are many ethnically specific roles available for Latino, African American and Arab American actors. A casting breakdown for each show is below. General Auditions When: Saturday, June 11th 12pm-4pm, Sunday, June 12th 12pm-4pm and Monday, June 13th from 6:30pm-9:30pm Where: Cleveland Public Theatre (6415 Detroit Ave. Cleveland, OH 44102) Auditions are by appointment only and will be scheduled in five minute increments. Actors should prepare no more than two minutes of material which can include 1-2 brief monologues and/or a short a cappella song. (Please note: auditions will be stopped at 2 minutes.) "Backstage" by Pat Cook Directed by Kati Miller Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th @ 8:15 pm Synopsis: We all know that the real drama in a theatre takes place backstage and creates quite a comedy to watch! This has never been more true than at Theatre Baroque, where the star, one-time matinee idol Burton Cavendish, suddenly dies an hour before the premiere of "Don Juan in Cleveland." Once it is discovered that Cavendish has passed away, Lou, the director, calls on Ajax, the understudy, to fill in. But Ajax must play Cavendish both on and off stage, and he can't tell anyone - not even his own mother! It is to be the great star's last performance... and Ajax's greatest performance ever. He reluctantly agrees, only to face nasty critics, doting mothers and one very large goon sent to collect a bundle from the great actor. Ajax even has to fool his own mother, who shows up backstage to say hello to Ajax and meet the famous Cavendish! (Little does she know she achieves both of those goals at one time!) Lines and plot twists fly as fast as you'll sell tickets in this theatrical farce where over-the-hill prima donnas reign - or think they do - and most of the rest of the cast is betting on who comes out on top. During this rigorous 6-day program, students explore the realities of what it means to be a modern Broadway performer. Participating in classes taught only by Broadway/nationally recognized professionals, students have the opportunity to work with and perform for pros from every aspect of the business including casting directors, agents, Broadway stars, Tony winners/nominees, and more! During the course of the week, Making It On Broadway students participate in seven core training classes and master-classes that focus solely on intensive musical theater training.
