July 9 and 10, at Talespinner Children's Theatre (TCT), 5209 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44102, presents the first two of four plays of its new play series, "PLAYground." PLAYground is an exciting new program that showcases new works for children by Cleveland-area writers during this two-week intensive workshop program in July of 2016. Writers (using local directors, and actors age 16 and up) will be given one week's rehearsal to showcase their works in a true workshop fashion, book in hand, and one weekend to perform that workshop for the public, complete with audience talk-backs following performance. During the week, they are given full use of the TCT rehearsal space, stage, and access to puppets, props, and costumes. PLAYground gives Cleveland-area writers a chance to put their work up on its feet, to help provide development of ideas, and exposure to the public. Plays submitted to PLAYground may be considered for future, full-stage production by TCT. This workshop provides the opportunity for young dancers & theatre students ages 8-12 year-olds to actively flourish in a professional, yet nurturing environment. The outstanding, professional faculty members of Lakeshore Ballet Theatre will provide exceptional instruction, while remaining sensitive to the developmental needs of younger dancers & actors. REGISTER TODAY! CMA provides acting students with the opportunity to discover, nurture and explore their own uniqueness and merge that into the script to stand out on the set or on stage. The classes are centered around The Sanford Meisner Technique. Meisner training is an interdependent series of exercises that build upon one another. The more complex work supports a command of dramatic text. Meisner students work on a series of progressively complex exercises to develop an ability to improvise, to access an emotional life, and finally to bring the spontaneity of improvisation and the richness of personal response to text. This is what is commonly known as "method acting." Through the Meisner system, the actor becomes fearless and gains a strong confidence that can be applied to all areas of life. The four week class helps the young actor develop a love for the work, and with this, the ability to survive and work as an actor. The Broadview Heights Spotlights Theater is seeking seven actor/strong singers for its upcoming production of Michael John LaChiusa’s *Queen of the Mist*. This will be the *second production* of this piece after the 2011 New York City premiere. Auditions will be *Sunday, August 15, from 3:00 – 5:00PM* and *Monday, August 16, from 7:00 PM to 9:00PM*, and will be held at the Broadview Heights Cultural Arts Building, Home of the Spotlights Theater, 9543 Broadview Road (on the Broadview Center property, next to the Police Department). Callbacks, if necessary, will be held by invitation only on a to-be-determined date later in the week. Those auditioning should bring a list of conflicts between September 6 and November 20. Potential cast must be available for *weekend performances between November 4 – 20, 2016*.
