The production is scheduled to open September 22nd and willrun through October 8th; with performances on Fridays & Saturdays @ 8:00PMand Sundays @ 2:00PM. There will be 4 student matinee performances on September26th & 27th and October 3rd & 4th at 10AM. DIVERSE AND NON-TRADITIONAL CASTING WILL BECONSIDERED FOR ALL ROLES. ALL roles are available. Please see below for afull character breakdown of roles. (3) PAID role available. Please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre songthat best shows off your vocal ability. She is optimistic, fun-loving, caring, and eager to experience life.Vocal range: E3 - F5. *$450 stipend for the rehearsal period and allperformances (13). Beast/Prince (PAIDROLE)*: Male, 20s-30s, any ethnicity; a prince transformed into aterrifying beast for his lack of compassion. He is hot-tempered and commanding,but has a warm, loving heart buried far beneath his gruff exterior. Vocalrange: A2 – F4. *$450 stipend for the rehearsal period and allperformances (13). Gaston (PAIDROLE)*: Male, 20s-30s, any ethnicity; egotistical, ultra-masculine villaindetermined to marry Belle. He is manipulative yet charming. Vocal range: A2 –E4. *$350 stipend for the rehearsal period and allperformances (13). Lumiere: Male, late 20s-60s, any ethnicity; suave,debonair enchanted candelabra. He is a loyal and steadfast servant. Strongcomedic actor. Dancing a plus. Vocal range: F#2 - F#4. Cogsworth: Male, late 20s-60s, any ethnicity; atightly-wound, enchanted mantle clock and the head of the Beast’s household. Heis uptight, strict, and punctual, hard-working, faithful, and thorough. Strongcomedic actor. Vocal range: A2 - E4. Maurice: Male, 30s-60s, any ethnicity; Belle’sloving, eccentric father. A child at heart and inventor in his own world. Vocalrange: Bb2 - Db4. Mrs. Potts: Female, late 20s-60s, any ethnicity; awarm-hearted, maternal enchanted teapot. Chip’s mother. She is loyal, caring,and playful. Vocal range: F#3 - G5. Chip: Male, 8-11, any ethnicity; an enchantedteacup and Mrs. Potts’ darling little boy. He is innocent, playful, andbright-eyed. Vocal range: A3 - F5. LeFou: Male, 20s-30s, any ethnicity; Gaston’sbumbling sidekick. He is loyal, energetic, and optimistic, but not quite thebrightest guy. Strong comedic actor. Vocal range: B2 - F#4. Madame De La Grand Bouche: Female, 20s-40s, anyethnicity; a former opera diva-turned-enchanted wardrobe. She has a caring,refined, larger than life personality. Vocal range: C#4 - D5. Babette: Female, late teens – 30s, any ethnicity; asaucy, enchanted feather-duster, and the object of Lumiere’s affections. She isthe playful, gorgeous, seductive French maid. Dancing a plus. Vocal range: C4 -F5. Silly Girls: Females, late teens – 20s, anyethnicity; The Silly Girls are in love with Gaston and will do almost anythingjust to be near him. Strong comedic actresses. Vocal range: C4 - F5. Monsieur D’arque: Male, late 20s-50s, anyethnicity; The scheming proprietor of the local insane asylum. He is a dark,sinister villain who aides Gaston in his plot to marry Belle. Vocal range: D3 -A4. Ensemble: Males and Females, teens – 50s, anyethnicity; strong singers and dancers to play multiple roles includingtownspeople, enchanted castle objects, wolves, & others.

Western Reserve Playhouse presents "It Runs in the Family" by Ray Cooney Directed by Jim Volkert June 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 & 17 @ 8PM Britain's master farceur Ray Cooney is at it again! Set in a hospital, "It Runs in the Family" contains the usual assortment of farcical nuts running in & out of doors, mistaking everybody for someone else. Dr. Mortimer tries to fend off a paternity suit, his wife, a punkish daughter & various other lunatics so that he may, at last, deliver the Ponsonby Lecture in an international conference. This is farce at its best as the situation spins hilariously out of control in typical Ray Cooney fashion. One character after another is bounding through doors that swing or slam in the doctor's lounge at St. Andrews Hospital & some are even crawling along the snowy ledge outside. When she informs Jack, he walks out on her. Meanwhile, Catherine & John argue about their divorce settlement. Adam, their 10-year-old son, disappears, causing the couple to realize that they still care for each other. AUDITION DATES FOR A THURBER CARNIVAL OPEN AUDITIONS FOR THE GATES MILLS PLAYERS’ SPRING PRODUCTION OF “A THURBER CARNIVAL” WILL BE HELD AT THE GATES MILLS COMMUNITY HOUSE ON SUN, JAN 7 FROM 2-4 PM, AND ON MON, JAN 8, FROM 6 – 8 PM. (The Gates Mills Community House is located on Chagrin River Road just north of the Gates Mills Town Hall/Police Station and diagonally across from the Gates Mills Library.) AUDITION PROCESS: Prepared monologues are not required and sides will be provided. A prepared resume and headshot would be appreciated. ABOUT THE PLAY: “A THURBER CARNIVAL” is a series of comic sketches based on the short stories, cartoons and fables of James Thurber, one of America’s greatest humorists. Co-written by Thurber and Cleveland-born actor Burgess Meredith, the 1960 revue won a Tony Award and has influenced comedy revues from Laugh-In to Second City to Saturday Night Live, as well as TV series like “My World and Welcome To It” and movies like “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.” Details about the play and James Thurber can be found on www.wikipedia.org. ROLES: Cast members (5 men and 4 women) play multiple roles ranging from mid-twenties to mid-sixties. The revue’s various short sketches offer actors improvisational/pantomime opportunities. SCHEDULE: Performances are March 2, 3, 4 (matinee), 9, and 10. Rehearsals take place on Sunday afternoons, as well as Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings thru February 17. After February 18, the rehearsal schedule will add evenings to accommodate tech and dress rehearsals.
