Only one week until the opening of SEAT OF THE PANTS' production of Brian Friel's MOLLY SWEENEY, being performed at Weathervane Playhouse in Akron on November 9-11 and 16-18, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at either www.seatofthepants.org or https://mollysweeney.eventbrite.com. *Seating is limited in this intimate 50-seat space so advance purchase is recommended. * One of Ireland’s finest playwrights, Brian Friel, creates a daring piece of theater by placing three memorable characters onstage, speaking directly to the audience, in a series of interlocking monologues that present divergent points of view on the same intriguing tale. Molly herself, blind since she was an infant, tells of her world before and after an operation to try and restore her sight. Her husband, itinerant champion of good causes, talks of his passion to help her. Her once famous eye surgeon, now a whiskey-sodden recluse, sees the operation as a chance to reclaim his reputation. But nothing goes quite as any of them expected. Lush language, insightful ideas, and moving performances fill this beautiful parable about the differences between seeing and understanding. Directed by Craig Joseph, the production stars Natalie Sander Kern, Abraham Adams, and Brian Newberg, and is stage managed by Sam Landgraf. The Canal Fulton Players are proud to present the Christmas classic, Miracle on 34th Street, on November 9-11,16-18, 2018 at The Chapel at Pineview Acres, 4194 Butterbridge Street, North Lawrence, Ohio. Vive la national tour of ‘Les Misérables’ at Playhouse Square Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal “Les Misérables” – the epic musical based on Victor Hugo’s novel about the Paris Uprising of 1823 – has been running in London for 33 years. It enjoyed 8,202 performances during its Broadway premiere and has been seen by over 70 million people in productions in 44 countries. The 2012 star-studded film version of this musical earned an extraordinary $442,169,052 worldwide. If there is anyone who has not yet heard the people sing, singing the song of angry men, rest assured that the touring production currently taking up residency at Playhouse Square is as good as it gets. And frequent fliers, who belt “24601” in the shower and attended the 2011 and 2013 tours when they swept through Cleveland, will not be disappointed.
