(Male, African-American, can play 60s-80s) Boolie Werthan – Daisy’s son (Male, can play 40s-60s) Synopsis: The place is the Deep South, the time 1948, just prior to the civil rights movement. Having recently demolished another car, Daisy Werthan, a rich, sharp-tongued Jewish widow of seventy-two, is informed by her son, Boolie, that henceforth she must rely on the services of a chauffeur. The person he hires for the job is a thoughtful, unemployed black man, Hoke, whom Miss Daisy immediately regards with disdain and who, in turn, is not impressed with his employer's patronizing tone and, he believes, her latent prejudice. But, in a series of absorbing scenes spanning twenty-five years, the two, despite their mutual differences, grow ever closer to, and more dependent on, each other, until, eventually, they become almost a couple. Arlene's Broadway on Buffalo, 236 Buffalo Street, Conneaut, Ohio is announcing upcoming auditions. Auditions for “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” will be Sunday, Dec. 2, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 3, from 6-8 p.m. at the theater. The show features roles for two men and five women and is under the direction of Aaron Drews. The New Yorker describes “Trailer Park” as "joyful and unashamedly vulgar, Betsy Kelso's comic fable about women in a Florida trailer park and their no-account men is more fun than a chair-throwing episode of Jerry Springer set to music.” Show dates are Feb. 15-17, 22-24 and March 1-3. Auditioners are asked to come prepared to sing with sheet music and a list of potential rehearsal conflicts. No audition appointments are necessary…it’s first-come, first-served. ••••••• Auditions for “The Diary of Anne Frank” will be Sunday, Dec. 16 from 5-7:30 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 17 from 6-9 p.m at the theater. The show features roles for five men and five women of varying ages and will be under the direction of David Bucci. New Additions to Cleveland Ballet's Nutcracker

Contact: Sarah Gabay, Social Media Manager sarahg(a)clevelandballet.org 216-320-9000 CLEVELAND, OH, November 28, 2018: Cleveland Ballet announces that due to high demand, seven sold out performances, and an outpouring of support from the people of Cleveland, two more performances of The Nutcracker have been added Wednesday, December 12th at 7pm and Thursday, December 13th at 11am. Artistic Director and Choreographer Gladisa Guadalupe states, “Because of last year’s success, we have been able to improve and expand upon the production as a whole with the addition of many new elements.” For example, a 42 ft. dragon which was specially crafted for the Chinese divertissement will be brought to life by 8 company members, and a beautiful backdrop depicting the Red Square in Moscow, Russia, will be featured during the Russian dance. In collaboration with local artists, this year’s version of The Nutcracker will also feature a stark snowy landscape scene beautifully illustrated by Cleveland Ballet artist, Alexandra Brin. Incorporating the skills of local artist Mirina Koran, Brin’s sketch has been artfully expanded into a 50 ft. x 30ft. backdrop for the snow scene in Act I. The well-known children’s choir, The Singing Angels, has been invited to perform for their second Nutcracker with Cleveland Ballet. In addition, Cleveland Ballet will continue its collaboration with Olga’s school of Music. Olga’s choir will perform on December 12th and the matinee on December 13th during the snow scene in Act I as well as before the show and during the intermission. Almost 100 students from our outreach program will attend the matinee performance on December 13th. Cleveland Ballet has prepared plenty of new surprises for their Holiday performances.
