CLEVELAND, OH March 16, 2018: Cleveland Ballet is pleased to announce our premiere of Alice, an original evening-length ballet choreographed by Margo Sappington. Sappington is not new to Cleveland audiences. ‘If He Were Mine’, a glamorous pas de deux choreographed by Sappington for America’s favorite ballerina, Cynthia Gregory received standing ovations in the mid 90’s. This work was created for the former Cleveland Ballet. The production of Alice marks the final performance of Cleveland Ballet’s third season. Commissioned by Cleveland Ballet to create this new work, Sappington is bringing fresh fantasies and an original score to this modern re-imagining based on the 1865 novel by Lewis Carroll. Inspired by a turn-of-the century circus, Sappington says the production will have a “belle époque” aesthetic, with an open “circus ring stage” that will enable the audience to witness the dancers as they transform into various characters. Since the creation of her first ballet for the Joffrey Ballet in 1971, Sappington’s vibrant career has taken her around the world, creating original works for companies such as Pennsylvania Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance, Ballet Next, Kansas City Ballet, Ballet du Capitole (France), and Central Ballet of China, among many others. She has received nominations for both a Tony Award for Best Choreographer and Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Choreography as recognition of her work on the Broadway revival of “Where’s Charley?”. She is also the recipient of Joffrey Ballet’s Lifetime Achievement award for her contributions to the art of ballet. Sappington says, of this production: “The thing that’s exciting to me about the story of Alice is that it’s so theatrical. This production is not just going to be a dance, it’s a theater experience through dance. Reading the book again after many years, I was struck by how it’s all over the place. It’s funny, creepy, weird and nonsensical, so I thought to do it like a circus. Alice will take place inside a big circus ring, where you’ll see dancers turn into different characters as they step outside the ring and pick up a hat, or a coat. It’s going to have a funky, inclusive feel as opposed to a presentational feel where we hide everything from you.” “The musical score will be original, I’m putting it together with a composer friend of mine. We will have a string quartet playing a Mozart minuet, a trumpet and an accordion for some of the transitions, and then some Ravi Shankar, Esquivel, Django Reinhardt, and British Light Classical music. OH 44118 Callbacks will be Wednesday, April 11 at 7pm We are seeking a company of intelligent, energetic and imaginative actors of all races and ethnicities for two productions that will tour a variety of outdoor venues across Cuyahoga and Lake Counties. Twenty years ago, we started with a simple notion – the Bard belongs to the people, and the people deserve to hear his works in the open air as intended and free of charge. This sum mer, we are proud to present TROILUS AND CRESSIDA and TWELFTH NIGHT. TROILUS AND CRESSIDA – directed by David Hansen Performance Dates June 15 – July 1 Rehearsals begin May 7 TWELFTH NIGHT – directed by Anne McEvoy Performance Dates July 20 – August 5 Rehearsals begin June 18 No appointment necessary. Canal Fulton Players- Last weekend of Shakespeare in Hollywood

On March 9-11, 16-18, 2018, the Canal Fulton Players will be presenting the hilarious, raucous comedy Shakespeare in Hollywood by Ken Ludwig. This Samuel French Inc. production deals with the making of the 1935 version of Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare. Through a cosmic disturbance, Oberon and Puck are transported to Hollywood when the two actors who are to play their parts in the movie withdraw from the production. The real Oberon and Puck are cast to play themselves and they encounter James Cagney, Dick Powell, Joe E. Brown, and two young actresses, one who will become an icon while the other disappeared into the landscape. Complete with arguing puppets, donkey heads and a rabid censor, this play will make you laugh until your sides hurt. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 pm. Sunday performances are at 3:00 pm. Pine View Acres Theatre is at 4194 Butterbridge Road, North Lawrence, Ohio which is at the corner of Butterbridge and Orrville Roads. Stocker Arts Center Presents 2018 LCCC Winter/Spring Film Series Stocker Arts Center presents the Winter/Spring Film Series on the Lorain County Community College campus. Films are shown on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. in the Hoke Theatre. The remaining films in the winter/spring series include: "The King's Choice" Friday, March 30, 7:30 p.m. 2017 (Not Rated) 130 min. Norway/subtitles Director: Erik Poppe Cast: Jesper Christensen, Anders Baasmo Christiansen, Tuva Novotny, Karl Markovics The King's Choice is a true story about three dramatic days in April 1940, where the King of Norway is presented with an unimaginable ultimatum from the German armed forces: surrender or die. With Nazi soldiers hunting after them, the Royal Family is forced to flee the capital. In the best interest of the family, the Crown Princess Märtha leaves Norway with the children to seek refuge in Sweden, whilst King Haakon and the crown Prince Olav flee to a small farming area just outside Elverum and meet the Germans head on. After three days of desperately trying to evade the Germans, King Haakon makes his final decision. He refuses to capitulate, even if it may cost him, his family and many Norwegians their lives. The couple, Alex and Margot, drive to a remote lake of their own where they go skinny-dipping and doze off on a raft. They have a little quarrel and Margot swims ashore. Suddenly Alex hears his name shouted from across the lake by his wife. He swims across, climbs out of the water, and is knocked unconscious. Eight years later we discover that his wife was brutally murdered by a serial killer. Though the killer has confessed to a number of murders, he has always denied being responsible for Margot's death. Although Margot's case was believed solved, suspicion of Alex has never died out. He was hit so hard before falling back into the water that he was in a coma for three days. Today, Alex is still deeply psychologically injured by the loss of Margot. He temporarily escapes his memories during the day by immersing himself completely in his work as a pediatrician. Outside of that, only the friendship he has formed with Hélèn Perkins saves him from total isolation from the rest of the world. But when two new bodies are uncovered near where Margot's body was discovered, Margot's case is reopened. At the same time, Alex receives a strange e-mail with a link to a video-surveillance web-cam and a time at which to watch it. "The Devine Order" Friday, April 27, 7:30 p.m. 2017 (Not Rated) 96 min. Switzerland/subtitles Director: Petra Volpe Cast: Marie Leuenberger, Max Simonischek, Rachel Braunschweig, Sibylle Brunner Winner of the Audience Award for Best Narrative Film at the Tribeca Film Festival, the film is set in Switzerland in 1971 where, despite the worldwide social upheavals of the previous decade, women were still denied the right to vote. When unassuming and dutiful housewife Nora (Marie Leuenberger, winner of a Best Actress award at Tribeca) is forbidden by her husband to take a part-time job, her frustration leads to her becoming the poster child of her town's suffragette movement. Her newfound celebrity brings humiliation, threats, and the potential end to her marriage, but refusing to back down, she convinces the women in her village to go on strike, and at the same time she makes a few startling discoveries about her own liberation. Uplifting and crowd-pleasing, this charming, captivating film is a time-capsule that could not be more timely. The film was Switzerland's submission for the Academy Awards Best Foreign Language Film. We hope to see you there, but if we don't...well, we already see you anyway. What exactly is The Manhattan Project - Cleveland Lab? The Manhattan Project is a low-stakes, nonthreatening place for actors and playwrights to meet and work together. Based on the Theatre Lab model taught at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama and inspired by The Brooklyn Generator in New York, The Manhattan Project wants to introduce Cleveland actors and playwrights to each other by organizing a bi-monthly production of brand new 10-minute plays. Participating artists will meet early in the month and will be broken into teams, each with one playwright. The playwright will then be given a writing prompt to write a new 10-minute play based on the prompt and including all the team's actors. The rest of the evening the team members will get to know each other and get a feel for each other's skills and voices. The teams will reconvene later in the month to perform these plays for each other. These 10-minute plays are not an end in themselves. Through these small collaborations we hope to build relationships between the two most vulnerable artists in theatre; the actors who put themselves on stage and the playwrights who pour themselves onto the page. Perhaps these 10-minute plays will grow into longer works or maybe these collaborations will become partnerships on larger projects. Lights for a non-profit theater.

I have a supply of lights with a regular household screw-in base. I have 36-48 of each type. One is clear glass, with the lamp fashioned in a flame shape. The other bulb is a reflector-type spot. Some of these are frosted and some are clear, but I believe all of them are 50-75 watts. They are free to a good home that can produce a letter documenting the donation.
