Based on the true story of a man from NE Ohio who overcameheroin addiction, HOW TO BE A RESPECTABLEJUNKIE is an award-winning play written by Greg Vovos and featuringChristopher Bohan. It is a humorous, heartbreaking, but ultimately hopeful lookinto the struggles faced by those caught in heroin’s deadly grip. HTBARJ premieredat Dobama Theatre in the Summer of 2017 where it was directed by Nathan Mottaand played to sold-out audiences and received both critical and audienceacclaim, including a feature in the New York Times. Western Reserve Playhouse presents the musical Dogfight! Dogfight, with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and book by Peter Duchan, will run April 13-28. It's November 21, 1963. On the eve of their deployment to a small but growing conflict in Southeast Asia, three young Marines set out for one final boys' night of debauchery, partying and maybe a little trouble. But, when Corporal Eddie Birdlace meets Rose, an awkward and idealistic waitress whom he enlists to win a cruel bet with his fellow recruits, she rewrites the rules of the game and teaches him the power of love and compassion. Artistic Director Dawn Sniadak-Yamokoski directs this amazing show, with musical direction by Dave Stebbins. Kimberly Sullivan, Kyle Burnett, Nina Takacs, Kaleigh Velette, Maximillian Winer, Zachary Palumbo, Daniel Hunsicker, Ben Arrington, Brian Innenberg, Diane Roberts and Kevin Cline grace the WRP stage, with ensemble work from Kayla Lehman, Micayla Carafelli, Ryan Dyke, Dorota Zarzycka and Steven Schuerger. Fridays & Saturdays at 8PM; Sunday at 6:30PM Rehearsals will start on or around May 29th. A pulsating, electric contemporary rock musical, bare follows a group of students at a Catholic boarding school as they grapple with issues of sexuality, identity, and the future. Peter and Jason have fallen in love with each other, but Jason -- a popular athlete -- fears losing his status if he is discovered to be gay. Unpopular Nadia, Jason’s sister, is contemptuous of Ivy, a beautiful girl with a questionable reputation. As the group attempts to put up a production of Romeo and Juliet, tensions flare, self-doubt simmers, and God’s path seems more difficult to find than ever. bare rings with the sounds of youthful repression and revolt. With a unique sung-through pop score, heart-pounding lyrics, and a cast of bright young characters, bare is a provocative, fresh, and utterly honest look at the dangers of baring your soul, and the consequences of continuing to hide. con-con’s ‘The Oldest Profession’ a satisfying comedy sans happy ending Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal Member, International Association of Theatre Critics There’s a musical theater remake of the film “Pretty Woman” in the works. Consider Paula Vogel’s “The Oldest Profession,” currently being staged by convergence-continuum, its sobering sequel. The one-act play introduces us to five post-menopausal New York City prostitutes on their lunchbreak from busily satisfying a dwindling clientele of AARP members. Facing competition on every corner, an increasing cost of living and the normal wear and tear from 50 years in the service industry, the working girls strategize on how to climb the next hurdle turning tricks.
