Call for readers for new monthly staged reading series

Wandering Aesthetics’s Department of Agitation, Provocation, and Transformation Presents: A staged Reading of It Can’t Happen Here. Dedicated to political theater and current events, Wandering Aesthetics’s Department of Agitation, Provocation, and Transformation will be having a staged reading once a month of various political publications or works. It could be a play or even a congressional testimony. July will be our kick off event with a stage reading of the play It Can’t Happen Here on July 5. The department will have readings the first Thursday of every month. Call for Readers: Looking for current event enthusiasts , actors, or just people that like reading out loud. Everyone is welcome. Any readers that want to be involved can remain “with the company” if they choose to for future readings. Looking for readers ages 16 and up. Commitment: Readers will be asked to come to only two or three rehearsals before the event. This is a very minimal time commitment. Rehearsals will be based on everyone’s availability. This will be a non paid reading role but “wine tips” are negotiable. About the play: The play written in 1936 and shown as a part of the Living Newspaper shows, in a series of trenchant scenes in a small Vermont town, how a fascist movement begins, spreads and captures our free American institutions, and drives the few courageous and intelligent members of the community into a revolt which in the end we feel will prove successful. This is a fresh, forthright document, indignant, theatrical, human, occasionally humorous, setting forth clearly the idea that if the members of a democracy really care about liberty, they will guard it at the cost of their lives. Students will learn all aspects of theater and at the end of two weeks, will offer a special performance at the Akron Art Museum Join The Illusion Factory Players this summer and explore the magical world of fairy tales! Students will spend a fun-filled two weeks at downtown Akron's Summit Artspace creating a group performance highlighting their favorite fairytales, including "Aladdin," "Snow White" and more! Students will then perform their play in front of a live audience at the beautiful Akron Art Museum on July 27th! Broadview Heights Spotlights’ Summer YouthMusical: Be More Chill BroadviewHeights Spotlights’ announces its summer youth production, Be More Chill with music and lyricsby JoeIconis and book by Joe Tracz. The musical is based on the novel Be More Chill by Ned Vizzini. Theshow premiered in the summer of 2015 at the Two River Theater in Red Bank, New Jerseyand the original cast recording quickly developed a cult followingamong young musical theater fans. Itsrelatable characters and rock-inspired score resonated with young musicaltheater fans. Shortly before the Spotlights’ held their auditions, an announcementwas made that the musical will make its New-York, Off-Broadway premiere in alimited-engagement run later this summer. This modern coming-of-age musical features JeremyHere, not the coolest kid in school, who is presented with a unique,technological opportunity to experience popularity. He learns that fitting in and being cool cancome with great costs. The Spotlights’ castof 16 talented teenagers includes Nicholas Beiser, Delia Brennan, ArielBrinker, Kyla Burks, Clorise Busch, Casey Cipollone, Nicholas DeAngelis, AlyssaGruttadauria, Dylan Grosh-Hoy, Derek Walton II, Molly Molina, Declan Newton,James Newton, Alicia Pedraza, Ian Stewart, and Addie Wisniewski. Spotlights’ Education Director Tim Anderson is directinghis twelfth summer youth production at the theater. “This show is uniquebecause it portrays teenagers honestly,” says Anderson. “Even though it’s a fun science fiction-themedadventure, there’s a wonderful, truth-filled lesson about social choices andself-discovery.” Ryan Bergeron providesmusical direction, Charlie Jones is the lighting designer, and Kaylea Kudlatyis the costumer. *ORGANIST/PIANIST* Old South Church UCC in Kirtland, OH is seeking an organist/pianist to lead worship at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service and accompany the Chancel Choir under the direction of the Music Director and Pastor. Chancel Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings. Church has a 2-manual Wicks pipe organ. A skilled pianist with some ability to play the organ would be considered.
