Western Reserve Playhouse will present Lion King, Jr. and Into the Woods, Jr. as part of its Young Artists’ Theatre Program. Lion King, Jr. will run June 22-24 and Into the Woods, Jr. will run June 29-July 1. Disney’s The Lion King, Jr. (with music and lyrics by Tim Rice and Elton John, additional music and lyrics by Will Van Dyke, Lebo M, Marc Mancina and Jay Rifkin and book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchihas) captivated the imagination of audiences around the world. The African savannah comes to life with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle... and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale. The show will be directed by Artistic Director Dawn Sniadak-Yamokoski, with Musical Direction by Adam Ferenbach. Into the Woods, Jr. (with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine) centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever. Auditions for "Little Women: The Musical" will take place Sunday, July 15 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm & on Monday, July 16 from 6-pm -8:30pm. Callbacks will be Tuesday, July 17 from 6-9pm (if needed). Dance auditions will occur from 8:30-9:30PM the day of your audition, so please bring clothes to change into. The show runs October 5-20, 2018, with the possibility of touring to a few schools. Directed by: Artistic Director Dawn Sniadak-Yamokoski Musical Direction: Dave Stebbins Choreographer: Jen Justice Please prepare a full contemporary musical theater piece (prefer legit with a mix of belt). PLEASE DO NOT SING FROM THE SHOW. Please have your music in original key and in a 3-ring binder with pages copied back to back. A headshot and resume will be helpful. A professional accompanist will be provided. You will be asked to dance, so please bring comfortable shoes. Regular rehearsals will begin Sunday, August 19, 2018 and run Sunday-Thursday. This timeless, captivating story is brought to life in this glorious musical filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope and everlasting love. Based on Louisa May Alcott's life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she has to do better and write more from herself. Western Reserve Playhouse Looking for Original Scripts!

Western Reserve Playhouse is pleased to announce the second-annual 80 Minutes New Works Festival! We are currently seeking original, unpublished plays to be featured in the festival. If the play that is being submitted has been previously performed (outside of a staged reading or a workshop), please include that information with your submission. Our theme for 2018 is Holidays - any holiday: Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Mother's/Father's Day, Boxing Day... Submissions are open now and the deadline for submitting is October 31st 2018 at 12:59 PM EST. We are currently only seeking submissions from local playwrights (Northeast Ohio), but if there are any questions about that, please contact us. Guidelines: 1. The play must run 15 - 20 minutes long. The maximum is 20 minutes. 2. The maximum number of actors involved in each play is 4. If there are additional characters that will be doubled, please indicate that information on the character list. 3. The play must be set inside a house, to utilize the set that will be existing on our stage. 4. Please include the following information in the Word Document or PDF: Name, Mailing Address, E-Mail Address, Phone Number. Please also include a short synopsis and a list of characters. 5. Please submit your play as an attachment to an e-mail, sent to submissions(a)westernreserveplayhouse.org. Please put "2018 80 Minutes Submission" in the Subject Line. 6. There is no fee for submission, but we ask that each playwright send no more than two scripts. 7. If the playwright's script is chosen for the New Works Festival, the playwright grants Western Reserve Playhouse three (3) royalty-free performances in November/December 2018.

“NIGHTS IN THEHEIGHTS” FREE OUTDOOR ROCK CONCERT AND CRUISE-IN The City of Broadview Heights is pleased to host the firstof its four outdoor rock concerts. It will be held Friday, June 1,rain or shine, from 7PM to 10PM. The concert will feature the band “Stuand the Brew”. Information can be found on their website: https://m.facebook.com/StuandtheBrew/ There will be a “Cruise-In” hosted by Next Level AutoDetailing with specially designated parking area for the vehicles. Moniesraised from Cruise-In activities will be donated to a pre-designated localcharity. The concert event will take place on the Broadview Centergrounds (9543 Broadview Road) in the pavilion near the football field. There will be plenty of freeparking as well as shelter in the event of rain. Food and adult beverages willbe available for purchase.
