*Clague Playhouse's 2nd AnnualBarnstormers: Workshop for Aspiring Young Playwrights* A two-week, hands on workshop where students collaborate with each other and professionals in the fields of Creative Writing and Dramatic Arts to create, produce, and ultimately perform original one-act plays for a live audience on the Clague Playhouse stage on Friday, June 29 and Saturday, June 30. Students will have opportunities to fulfill writing, acting, and production roles. Classes will be held Monday through Friday, June 18 – June 29, 2018 from 9:00am – 2:00pm (lunch will be provided) and conclude with 2 evening performances on Friday, June 29 and Saturday, June 30 at Clague Playhouse, 1371 Clague Road, Westlake. $100 per student in grades 7-10. In Troilus and Cressida (adapted and directed by David Hansen): Romance is dangerous in a time of war. The young soldier Troilus and his beloved Cressida are driven apart by forces beyond their control, and vengeance can raise its head from the most surprising of corners. I have written a short novel which takes place in 1918, whose plot revolves around silent films. I would like to find an experienced photographer to take "vintage" shots to illustrate several sequences and, in essence, create mini-silents throughout, complete with title cards and framed by the novel's central narrative. Neither an illustrated novel, nor a graphic novel, but something in-between. I cannot offer compensation, but the photographer would be fully-credited, as would the "cast" of characters assembled to pose for the shots. Featuring dozens of area theatre, dance, visual and performance artists and with fabulous food and drink, Pandemonium 2018 is a benefit like no other and an opportunity for you to be a featured artist. The Pandemonium team is seeking proposals from extraordinary theatre, music, performance poetry, dance, visual and multimedia artists. Pandemonium 2018 is a benefit event and all proceeds go to support Cleveland Public Theatre's mission on stage and in the community: creating and presenting challenging and inspiring performance work, ensuring that emerging artists and small performance companies have opportunities to participate in the arts, and sustain CPT's work with urban youth and adults in transition. Cleveland Public Theatre announces 2018/2019 New Play Development Request for Proposals Deadline for submissions has been extended to Monday, June 18th, 2018 CPT's New Play Development CPT's mission is to raise consciousness and nurture compassion through groundbreaking performances and life-changing education programs. CPT's programming agenda is to produce work that is outside the mainstream, offering a much broader range of work available to the Cleveland public and expanding the impact and originality of theatre across the country. CPT strives to make work that is excellent, extraordinary, and nationally competitive. Our new play development programs are based on our years of experience, community input, and key principles of: focusing on artists; valuing diversity of approach, aesthetics, and perspective; and balancing impact with investment. We envision CPT as a nationally recognized hub for the development of new theatre that is extraordinary, edgy, and relevant. We hope to be a model for nurturing local talent in similar sized markets, the most regarded cultivator of new theatre for Cleveland audiences, a laboratory for promising research and investigation, and a launcher of nationally significant new plays. Avenue Arts Marketplace & Theatre announces auditions for FOR COLORED GIRLS Located at 324 Cleveland Ave. NW Canton, Ohio 44702 SYNOPSIS: This groundbreaking "choreopoem" is a spellbinding collection of vivid prose and free verse narratives about and performed by Black women. Capturing the brutal, tender and dramatic lives of contemporary Black women, For Colored Girls... offers a transformative, riveting evening of provocative dance, music and poetry. Directed by: Maya Nicholson Auditions will be held July 17th and 18th from 7-9pm. All auditioners are asked to come prepared to cold read from the script. We also ask that you bring a current headshot/resume. All Avenue Arts Actors are considered volunteers and will be unpaid.
