Artist Friends: I'm looking to borrow some small percussive and/or wearable instruments for a performance in mid July. Focus is in particular on percussive instruments (or easily potable melodious instruments), which can be played while actors are moving, and can include children's instruments. For example: a triangle, tambourine, small xylophone could be a children's xylophone) , castanets, finger cymbals, ankle bells, or bongos, etc. Will be used on stage and then returned to original owners after July 14th. Teen One Act Festival at Fine Arts

The Fine Arts Association Announces The Playroom: Teen One Act Festival Willoughby, Ohio - June 2018 -The Fine Arts Association presents the premiere of their teen one act festival-The Playroom. The festival features original, never-before-produced ten-minute plays written by teens about subjects that impact their lives. Created and developed by Grace Perry, the festival includes four one act plays written, directed and performed by teens. Plays being performed are "Wyoming," written by Christian Borkey, about sorority sister relationships not being all they are "cracked up to be." Borkey also wrote "Best Friends Forever" about the "life and death" battle with very best friends. Rounding out the festival are "Here Be Dragons, by Rosalie Sajovie about the issues that occur when miscommunications and illusions run wild between friends and "Silence Is Violent," written and directed by Elise Willins concerning the emotions and feelings someone struggling with mental illness has. Directors and cast members Cameron Zona and Elyse Willins are also joined by cast members Jenna Guinan, Natalie DeSantis, Giavanna Crockett-Tomasio and Lily Olsen. Performances of The Playroom are June 29 & 30, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. and July 1, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling (440) 951-7500. Summer auditions are here and are you prepared? Dr. Christopher Hutton, Baritone, is taking new voice students and excited to get you physically and mentally prepared for auditions and performances. Dr. Hutton has a Masters Degree and Doctorate of Music Arts degrees in Vocal Pedagogy (Science of Singing) from Arizona State University, and is fluent in teaching both belting/music theatre technique and classical technique. Christopher attended Youngstown State University where he received his Bachelors in Voice Performance. He has also performed opera at regional opera houses for over thirteen years. Well done!! ...Thank you for putting on productions like BENT. It is artistically wonderful and socially so relevant. ...Bent was an excellent show that just sent us over to become subscribers for next season. Thank you for entertaining us. ...Chilling and horrifying story. Show dates: Friday-Sundays September 21-October 7 The Game's Afoot Ken Ludwig's Holmes for the Holidays is a wickedly funny farce, complete with ghosts, secret panels, and a Christmas nor'easter thrown in for atmosphere...add murder and indeed! The Game's Afoot! It is December 1936, and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. It is then up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays. William Gillette, 30s-60: Seasoned lead actor, has made a career of playing Sherlock Holmes and lives the role in the palatial mansion he built. He adheres t the codes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie. Martha Gillette: William's mother, who also lives in the mansion. She is a grand lady of the stage in her own right, and the evening's hostess. Felix Geisel, 40s: Dear friend and co-actor in Gillette's production company. A bit of a cad, but what actor isn't? Madge Geisel, 40s: Felix's wife. Character actress in the group: witty, sophisticated, and bigger than life Simon Bright, 30s: Dashing young actor. Quite the charmer, and newly married to Aggie Inspector Goring, 30s: Local police officer called in to investigate the murder. She is a tough cookie and not fooled by all the theatrics. Daria Chase: A cross between Cruella DeVille and Ricky Lake. Theater critic who came up the hard way. Soap opera siren who discards men like used tissue. Ageless. Aggie Wheeler 20s-30 bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, Aggie is the ingénue of the company. French teens need World Exchange homes July 31 - August 19

Copied from a post on the Lakewood Community Facebook page: “They’re coming to America” So sang Neil Diamond evoking the sheer joy of arriving in a vibrant country, a dream destination full of possibility and hope… Today, on the European side of the Atlantic Ocean there is waning interest among tourists, exchange students and university applicants in coming to the USA. Impressions of life in America aren’t as rosy as they once were. And yet there are still many excited French teenagers who signed up eagerly this spring, thrilled to come here to experience the American way of family life by participating in World Exchange’s “Invite the World Home” 20-day program, July 31st – August 19th. On this side of the Atlantic, finding those special families for whom hosting would be an adventure has never been easy but this year it’s particularly challenging. World Exchange local program director, Jill Werling Quinn of Avon Lake Ohio, has been reaching out since March but to date 11 of her 16 French students have homes in the Cleveland to go to. Jill will meet with each family to provide orientation and support. She will organize two day-trips and a party/picnic. The rest of the time host families will be free to make their own plans to take their student to the beach, to camp, to work, to the supermarket – to participate in whatever their family normally does during July. The French teens look forward to practicing their English, trying their hand at baseball, eating barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers, exploring, playing video and board games. Here are a few in need of host families Louis is 17 and comes from a a daredevil family who enjoys kite surfing, motor bikes water sports and fishing. Julien D is 16 and is a good student who enjoys school and video games but also like to surf and go to the beach. Malo is 13 and LOVES everything american and has been learning about it and practicing his English skill for many years. And love American he loves basketball Kilian is 15 and likes animals especially dogs and cats. Dave Bukatinsky - (Male, Any Ethnicity, 30s-40s) Definitive sidekick. Very much a man’s man, but more of a follower than a leader. Overweight, self-conscious about his size. Desperate for direction and purpose. His marriage is on the rocks and his friendships are strained. Ultimately overcomes his struggles of self worth and identity. Strong actor/singer. Bari-Tenor. Non-union, paid role. Based on the 1997 film, The Full Monty centers around 6 men struggling to find themselves after a steel mill shuts down leaving them unemployed and searching for their identity. In the process, these 6 men triumph over their failures, their fears, AND their clothes. Monty shines a spotlight on the internal battles of body issues, self worth, and identity that men, YES MEN, and women struggle with daily.
