Auditions for Akron Symphony's WEST SIDE STORY

The Akron Symphony announces auditions for a concert version of Leonard Bernstein’s WEST SIDE STORY, to be performed on May 4, 2019 at 8 PM at EJ Thomas Hall in Akron. Initial auditions will take place on Saturday, September 22nd, from 11 AM - 3 PM at First United Methodist Church, 263 E. Mill Street, in Akron. Callbacks, as necessary, will be held on Monday, September 24th, from 6 - 9 PM at the same location. All roles paid; Equity contracts available, if needed. An ethnically diverse cast is desired. Rehearsals will begin in early April, with a few music rehearsals a week, and will increase in frequency the week prior to May 4th for light staging and tech. Dr. Christopher Hutton, Baritone, is taking new voice students and excited to get you physically and mentally prepared for auditions and performances. Dr. Hutton has a Masters Degree and Doctorate of Music Arts degrees in Vocal Pedagogy (Science of Singing) from Arizona State University, and is fluent in teaching both belting/music theatre technique and classical technique. Christopher attended Youngstown State University where he received his Bachelors in Voice Performance. He has also performed opera at regional opera houses for over thirteen years.
