Alvarez, Michael Carleton and James FitzGerald Directed by Rob Gibb Tuesday, August 14 & Wednesday, August 15 at 7:30 p.m. Auditions will take place at *Clague Playhouse*, 1371 Clague Road, Westlake, Oh 44145. No appointment is necessary. Ages: 20’s-50’s. What’s important in this zany, high energy romp is trust and chemistry between the actors. Looking for fearless actors who can play multiple roles and give an improvised feel to a scripted show. Actors should be able to carry a tune and perform basic choreography. *About the Play:* Instead of performing Charles Dickens’ beloved holiday classic for the umpteenth time, three actors decide to perform every Christmas story ever told. Their neighbor, Fred Gailey, tries to woo Doris by charming Susan and taking her to see Santa Claus at Macy's, where Doris works. Doris is not impressed, but when it turns out that Macy's Santa may, in fact, be the real Kris Kringle, a wave of love spreads across New York City that melts even the most cynical hearts. Filled with humor, spectacle and such beloved songs as "Pinecones and Hollyberries," "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" and "My State, My Kansas," this joyous, heartwarming musical is pure family entertainment, wholesome without being cloying. The Kent Trumbull Theatre is kicking off its 53rd season with the Victorian Thriller "Gaslight" (also known as Angel Street). A Broadway hit first produced on the West End under the title Gaslight and filmed twice,Angel Street tells the story of the Manninghams, who live on Angel Street in 19th century London. As the curtain rises, all appears to be the essence of Victorian tranquility. It is soon apparent, however, that Mr. Manningham, a suavely handsome man, is slowly driving his gentle, devoted wife, Bella, to the brink of insanity with an insinuating kindness that masks more sinister motives. While he is out, Mrs. Manningham has an unexpected caller: amiable, paternal Inspector Rough from Scotland Yard. Rough is convinced that Mr. Manningham is a homicidal maniac wanted for a murder committed fifteen years earlier in this very house. Gradually, the inspector restores Bella’s confidence in herself and, as the evidence against Manningham unfolds, the author has built and sustained some of the most brilliant, suspenseful sequences in modern theatre. ROLES: (2m,3f, 2m/f) MR. MANNINGHAM - tall and good-looking, about 45. He is heavily moustached and bearded and perhaps a little too well dressed. His manner is suave and authoritative, with a touch of mystery and bitterness. MRS. MANNINGHAM - about 34. She has been good-looking, almost a beauty - but now she has a haggard, wan, frightened air, with rings under her eyes, which tell of sleepless nights and worse. ELIZABETH - a stout, amiable, subservient woman of 50. NANCY - a self-conscious, pretty, cheeky girl of 19. ROUGH - middle-aged - greying, short, wiry, active, brusque, friendly, overbearing. He has a low, warm chuckle and completely dominates the scene from the beginning. Show will run October 19-21st, 26-28 (with special gala performance October 25). Even then, err on the side of caution. Nobody wants to leave feeling creeped out. *4. Be Positive. *“Yes, And” is the heart of improv. Arguing with someone you don’t know will kill the scene. You are trying to improvise with someone & you are also making a real first impression on another human being. Always be respectful. *6. No Steamrolling.* Listen to your partner & take what is offered. Do your best to be reactionary don’t try to think of a funny joke! It takes you out of the moment and into your head. 7. *Being "edgy" is not a guaranteed laugh. *Scenes about rape, pedophilia, mocking disabilities, race, gender or sexual orientation will be cut.
