Designated only for Thursday evening performances, students of any age are invited to show their student IDs (or other form of school identification) and attend *any Thursday Clague Playhouse performance AT NO CHARGE*. Clague Playhouse is delighted to be able to welcome students to come experience live theater! *HOW TO GET THESE TICKETS:* These Thursday Student tickets are limited and can vary depending on availability per week. Audio/Video/Lighting (AVL) Specialist Department: Media Accountability: Minister of Worship & Arts Status: Non-Exempt, Part Time Hourly, 20 hrs/wk Summary of Position: The AVL Specialist focuses on designing and implementing systems and processes to help Olivet Institutional Baptist Church (OIBC) leverage technology to enhance ministry effectiveness. This role spans departments to provide AVL production solutions for the entire church. Purpose: To provide high quality and excellent service, with the right heart attitude, offering AVL support to all ministries. In doing so, the mission and vision of OIBC can be carried out at all times. To be a source of technical knowledge to improve and leverage current AVL production systems. Some project management leadership will be required. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: - Assist with Sunday worship production. - Provide technical advice and AVL support for various ministries throughout the week. - Participate in AVL production project design and implementation of current and future media needs. - Manage and organize the inventory and repair of AVL equipment. - Must be flexible to work a minimum of 8 hours every Sunday and day/evening hours during the week Skills & Educational Requirements: Thorough knowledge of various production elements preferred (ETC Ion board, Yamaha CL5/CL3, various lighting, photography, audio production, stage design, etc.) - Understanding of audio signal flow and audio system setup - Must be capable of connecting, maintaining, and technical troubleshooting in the areas of AVL systems. - Experience with audio/video editing systems a plus. - Must be proficient in production infrastructure and operations. - Must be familiar with computer applications that directly relate to work including various information systems (networking, database, etc.) - Must be biblically sound and exhibit personal conduct that reflects positively on the integrity of the church. - Self-motivated and able to work and make sound decisions under pressure. - Must be able to work with and lead volunteers. - Must be trustworthy and confidential. - Highly creative problem solver. - College or work-related trade school degree in the field of information technology and/or production systems. Organization Relationships: This position shall be directly accountable to the Minister of Worship & Arts and through the Minister of Worship & Arts to the Executive Pastor. This position will have contact with church attendees and paid staff. Working Conditions: This position is approximately 20 hours per week, with a solid Sunday schedule of 6a-2p. Detail oriented, keen initiative, ability to use discernment in making decisions, and a team player. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Avenue Arts Marketplace & Theatre announces auditions for BENT Located at 324 Cleveland Ave. NW Canton, Ohio 44702 SYNOPSIS: In 1934 Berlin on the eve of the Nazi incursion, Max, a grifter and his lover Rudy are recovering from a night of debauchery with a SA trooper. Two soldiers burst into the apartment and slit their guest's throat, beginning a nightmare odyssey through Nazi Germany. Ranked lower on the human scale than Jews, the men as awoved homosexuals, flee. Desperate and on the run, Max asks his own "discreetly" homosexual Uncle Freddie for help as the older man offers little more than suggestions on how to live, as he does, practicing homosexuality on the side. Attempting their escape, Rudy is beaten to death as Horst, another homosexual prisoner, warns Max to deny his lover. Taken to a death camp at Dachau, Max and Horst branded with the "pink triangle", hope to survive with each other for comfort and courage but it is not to be. "Bent" is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC. CHARACTERS: Max (Male, 30s) - homosexual "wheeler dealer" who leads a dissolute life of drink, drugs, and sporadic sex until the horros of Nazi Germany intervene and effectively put an end to his hedonistic alcoholic life style; a tormented individual, tortured by the memory of his reprehensible actions, but never loses his basic humanity; not at all a coward, but rather a pragmatist. Horst (Male, 20s) - relatively muscular physique and a kind nature; a "pink triange", incarcerated in the death camps of Dacheu because of his homosexuality; a sensitive man, strongly affected by Max's torment. Rudy (Male, 30s) - bespectacled, homosexual dancer; rather gushy, effusive, homebody type who has a great love for Max and his precious household plants; tends to become a trifle hysterical at times. Greta (Male, late 30s) - a man dressed as a woman in a silver dress, top hat and cane; presents an appearance that is at once elegant and bizarre; tough, practical proprietor of a gay nightclub who entertains patrons by singing in a smoky seductive voice; Nazis' rise to power sends him back to his wife and kids. Uncle Freddie (Male, 50s) - aristocratic, well-dressed; Max's uncle, a "closet fluff" Wolf (Male, 30s) - gay man picked up by Max one drunken evening. The story is a natural for a stage adaptation: the saga of George Bailey, the Everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls, whose dreams of escape and adventure have been quashed by family obligation and civic duty, whose guardian angel has to descent on Christmas Eve to save him from despair and to remind him—by showing him what the world would have been like had he never been born—that his has been, after all, a wonderful life. This faithful adaptation has all your favorite characters: George and Mary Hatch, Clarence, Uncle Billy, Violet, and, of course, the Scrooge-like villain, Mr. Potter. ISO . House Manager Funny Noizes Productions (FNP) was created in June of 2017. In the first 12 months we produced over 25 professional comedy shows in a theater with professional sound & lights, a radio personality as our Emcee & we brought comedians from all over the country to Akron. We've had articles written about us in Akron's Devil Strip mag. Now we're growing and in 2019 we are scheduled to produce over 50 shows and will be bringing comedians who were seen on Jimmy Fallon Tonight Show & Steve Colbert Late Show and we will be in 3 theater settings. We work with the rising stars of comedy. These comedians will be the next to be on SNL, Netflixs, & late night shows. We are seeking a house manager to add to our team. The duties and responsibilities are mostly that of a host/hostess and only requires duties on the day of the show. You will greet & seat guests to OUR standards, communicate with guests, & ensure their satisfaction. You'll help set up the venue, pass out promotional material, & have fun. You MUST have a bubbly out going personality & like to laugh. You'll need to be guest oriented as you'll be the face our business as we continue to grow. You will need to be available 2 or 3 nights a month on Fridays and/or saturdays from 630pm - 1030pm. You must be at least 21 years old. you must be reliable, trustworthy, responsible. Get in on the ground floor of the next big thing in Akron while having fun. At this time it's a volunteer position but you can drink responsibly while you work, you can meet and see some great comedians, you can get your pic taken with the best rising comedians, and you can have a fun time that other people had to pay to do, as these are ticketed shows. Fall auditions are here and are you prepared? Dr. Christopher Hutton, Baritone, is taking new voice students and excited to get you physically and mentally prepared for auditions and performances. Dr. Hutton has a Masters Degree and Doctorate of Music Arts degrees in Vocal Pedagogy (Science of Singing) from Arizona State University, and is fluent in teaching both belting/music theatre technique and classical technique. Christopher attended Youngstown State University where he received his Bachelors in Voice Performance. He has also performed opera at regional opera houses for over thirteen years. The fall session is geared for youth ages 10-14 years old and the program is offered at no cost. Enrollment is by audition. There will be three open audition calls for participation in the program. Youth who have successfully participated in previous sessions are guaranteed placement in the program. All youth must participate in an audition to be eligible for the program. Enrollment is capped at 20 participants. WHO This program is for youth ages 10-14 years old who are interested in a creative theatre training that focuses on acting fundamentals, storytelling, and playwriting. The program has a priority to serve Cleveland residents, but youth who live outside of Cleveland are welcome to audition. WHAT Cleveland Act Now is a theatre training program for young artists that is fun and challenging. Youth will learn acting fundamentals and ensemble creation.
