Due to unfortunate circumstances, Cold Start Films is seeking local non-union male talent to replace an actor in a lead role ("David") for our feature-length indie thriller "CUT: Reckoning", the sequel to the 2003 film "CUT", originally written and directed by Carlos P. Quiros. SYNOPSIS: 15 years after being abducted, tortured, and left for dead by sadistic college classmates, Jody has overcome multiple personal tragedies to settle into a seemingly normal life, but an unexpected encounter sends her world, along with those of of her former captors, crashing back together in a dark cat-and-mouse game involving bitter vengeance, serial killers, and a dangerous love triangle CHARACTER: DAVID - __30-ish. Any ethnicity. First-year homicide detective. Boyishly handsome and charming with youthful enthusiasm and naivete. "Eagle Scout" personality. Auditions will be held Sunday, September 23 from 4pm to 7pm at Kent State University Center for the Performance Arts (CPA building) in Kent, OH. For those unable to attend the audition, video submissions will be accepted until the date of the live auditions. Contact us via the Cold Start Films website for video submission instructions. Production is already underway and will be ongoing throughout the Fall and Winter of 2018 (primarily interior scenes) and will conclude in the Spring of 2019 when warmer weather returns to allow for a few of our large-scale exterior scenes. Filming takes place at various locations, primarily around the Akron-Canton area. Please note, this is a micro-budget project that is seeking online crowdfunding for additional support, so at this time cast and crew positions are not paid, however any production-related travel expenses such as fuel to-and-from sets will be reimbursed and on-set meals/facilities provided. Dobama’s ‘Sunset Baby’ rises to the occasion Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal Member, American Theatre Critics Association In a season that champions the work of six award-winning women, Dobama Theatre could not have chosen a more popular, powerful or problematic playwright than Dominique Morisseau for its opening production. In terms of popularity, the young Morisseau ranks No. 5 on American Theatre’s list of the 20 most-produced playwrights of 2017-18, just above Arthur Miller. Her powerful plays take marginalized people – particularly African-Americans who are marginalized within their own inner-city community – and give them a story and a voice. This voice reflects the rhythms and cadence of urban dialect imbued with an intelligence and eloquence that is often a stumbling block in productions that see these characters as archetypes rather than real and complex individuals. This is not the case with Dobama Theatre’s current production of Morisseau’s “Sunset Baby,” a play that opened off-Broadway in 2013 and is receiving its Ohio premiere. Under Justin Emeka’s direction, it is superb on every level and holds its audience’s emotions hostage from start to finish. Modern Jazz / Pop Band Looking For Jazz Flutist / Sax player

Modern jazz/pop group in Mentor is looking for a skilled jazz flutist for solo and back up work. We cover songs ranging from Ella Fitzgerald to Steely Dan to Sade, as well as instrumental standards like Stolen Moments and Birdland. Our primary need is for a flutist, as around 50% of the songs we are covering have flute in them. Another 25% could use sax, thus the request for dual instrumentation. This is a larger, professional band, so work ethic and ability are a key factor in justifying adding another player. Full band practices are on Saturday with melodic players also meeting on Thursday evenings to solidify songs to be practiced on the weekends. Practices are 6pm to 9pm in Mentor on the Lake. 5-week Swing dance classes with Get Hep Swing starting Sept 10th and 11th at the Brecksville Center for the Arts

Get Hep Swing is the premiere dance company for teaching and performing swing dances from the 1920s through the 1950s. We make learning to partner dance easy and fun. You do not need to bring a dance partner as we rotate partners during the lesson. You can physically push yourself as much or as little as you like during the lessons. You will get individualized attention as well as group instruction. Pre-registration is required and may be done online at www.BrecksvilleArts.org. D On Monday nights we offer two levels of Lindy, beginner from 7-8 and intermediate from 8-9. Lindy began in the ballrooms of Harlem in the late 1920's/early 1930's. It is a conglomeration of dances that immigrants brought over from their homelands as a response to what was the latest craze in music- Jazz! Lindy is characterized by some of the same things that make Jazz music great; syncopated rhythms, creative improvisation, and call and fancy fundamental moves. You can see examples of Lindy in the movies and TV shows like "Swingers", "A League of Their Own", "Malcolm X", "Swing Kids", "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing With The Stars”. Tuesday nights we offer two levels of Jitterbug, beginner from 7-8 and intermediate from 8-9. Jitterbug is the easiest form of partnered dancing and is also known as East Coast Swing or Swing. We will dance to a variety of styles of music including big band swing, early rock & roll, blues and R&B. You will learn the basic footwork patterns and how to lead and follow a fun mix of spins and turns in open and closed position. Learning to swing dance is a great way to meet people and get some exercise! Tuesday nights we offer two levels of Balboa, beginner from 7-8 and intermediate from 8-9. Balboa and Bal-Swing are dances that originated in the crowded ballrooms of Southern California in the 1930's. The Balboa is loved for its fancy footwork, close connection, finesse and the ability to be done quite easily at all tempos. Balboa is most often done to big band swing from the 1930's. Many people have said that Balboa is the Tango of the Swing world. If you are interested in developing and refining your leading or following abilities, then Balboa is definitely the dance for you! This dance has a lot of torso contact between partners. There is a $10 per person discount available for those who sign up with a dance partner. We define a dance partner as one person assuming the role of leader and one person assuming the role of follower. These roles are not gender specific. Each person signs up individually and uses the code DANCEPARTNER at check out. There is a $30 discount off of the $60 price available for those who are repeating a fundamentals or beginner class. IMMEDIATE NEED FOR MALE ACTOR for _THIS MUCH (OR AN ACT OF VIOLENCE TOWARDS THE INSTITUTION OF MARRIAGE)_ ____ OPENING OCT 12. REHEARSALS BEGINNING NOW. The play: The play (by John Fitzpatrick) has a total of three roles. GAR isn’t sure what he wants. His boyfriend ANTHONY is the domestic type, nice but highly strung, while ALBERT, the guy Gar has been seeing on the side, is more spontaneous and transgressive. Security or fun – which should he choose? And why should he have to? Gar just wants to dance with his friends! GAR lives in apparent bliss with cleaning-obsessed boyfriend ANTHONY. Together, they bitch about their straight friends’ weddings and wish their moms were lesbians. Anthony is pressuring Gar into a marriage he sometimes wants and sometimes doesn’t want. But all the while Gar, not yet willing to embrace monogamy, is having an affair with wild kid ALBERT. After that, all collapses into emotional breakdowns and wild displays of seriously outrageous behavior. (_This Much _was a big hit at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe & has had UK productions. The con-con production, directed by Clyde Simon, will be its US premiere.) The role: ALBERT is playful, funny, adventurous, kind of a player and comes across as sort of a kid. (The role had previously been cast, but due to unavoidable, recently occuring performance-schedule conflicts the actor is no longer available.) The needed actor: Should appear to be in age range 19-22. Dancer or moves well (the production will include several scenes of somewhat stylized movement to music). OK with appearing shirtless (one scene) and in only boxers (one scene). Brief nudity optional, but not required, depending on actor’s comfort level (in one scene, as a joke, Albert and Gar expose themselves in the park). Rehearsals _ _are scheduled to begin Mon, Sept 10, so the sooner actor could start the better!!
