Newly divorced 38-year-old Elizabeth, an urban planner, moves to New York City for a fresh start. She meets her friends Kate, a kindergarten teacher, and Lucas, a community organizer, in Madison Square Park. Kate suggests that Elizabeth start using the name "Liz" and seek out new experiences. Lucas suggests that she go back to her college nickname, "Beth," and start making professional connections in the city. The musical then shows both possibilities playing out. "Liz" stays in the park with Kate while "Beth" leaves with Lucas, and the remainder of the show depicts two paths that Elizabeth's life could take. ("Prologue/What If") Got it? I bet not. Wonderful music and a confusing if not great book. Be a part of a production that will break convention. *Audition Information:* *ALL ROLES ARE COMPENSATED. Sorry, no EQUITY contracts for this show. * *Production and Rehearsal Dates:* *“If/Then” **will open on Friday, January 31, 2020 and run through February 16, 2020. *MTC to Hold Auditions for Shrek the Musical!* *Warren, Ohio-* The Millennial Theatre Company (MTC) is holding auditions for their 2020 season opener, Shrek the Musical! Auditions will be held at the Girard First United Methodist Church (22 N Market St, Girard, OH 44420) on Thursday, December 5 from 6-9pm, Saturday, December 7 from 10-2pm, and Sunday, December 8 from 1-4pm. Please use the West Main Street entrance by the green awning, across from City Hall. Signs will be posted directing auditioners downstairs. Head shots and resumes encouraged, but not required. Please prepare a 30-60 second selection, with sheet music, in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided. A cold reading from the script will be provided. Dance auditions will be scheduled after the first round of auditions. The roles of Mama and Papa Ogre have been cast. All other roles are open. Ages 16+ for all roles; 2 younger actors (ages 8-13) will also be needed for Young Shrek/Young Fiona. MTC will perform the production March 13-15 at newly restored Robins Theatre in Warren, Ohio, with a special school performance scheduled for Friday, March 13 at 10am. The show will be directed by Joe Asente and music directed by Savannah Florkowski. Rehearsals will take place M-Th 6-9pm at The Girard First United Methodist Church following the start of the new year. No tech week conflicts will be accepted. Shrek the Musical tells the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek. The City Ballet of Cleveland is presenting its annual holiday classic with a twist, The Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker, on Saturday, December 14 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 15 at 2:00 pm at the Breen Center for Performing Arts. This year’s guest artists include many local artists, including Daniel Cho, Emily Dietz, Benjamin Shephard, Sabatino Verlezza, Mariana Perez whisking audience members away to a magical land of a young girl’s dreams, the energetic Mouse Queen battling the 1920’s Cleveland Indians and the land of many countries. ALTO SOLOIST-SECTION LEADER POSITION AVAILABLE The Chancel Choir of the First Baptist Church of Greater Cleveland at 3630 Fairmount Boulevard (at Eaton Road) in Shaker Heights is looking for an Alto Soloist and Section Leader for its dynamic music and choir program of volunteer choristers and six (6) paid professional singers. The position runs from January 2, 2020 through May 31, 2020, but is renewable on a season by season basis which run from the first Thursday after Labor Day through the first Sunday of June the following spring. - Sunday morning worship is at 11 AM, with a choir rehearsal at 10:15 AM each Sunday. - Thursday evening rehearsals are from 7 PM to 8:45 PM weekly except when a Thursday falls on a holiday. - There is per-service compensation for additional rehearsals and performances as scheduled by the music director. - Paid position - competitive salary. Auditions will be held at the church starting at about 11:30 AM Sunday afternoon, December 14, 2019 in the Sanctuary of the church at 3630 Fairmount Boulevard in Shaker Heights.
