City Ballet of Cleveland 2019 AuditionDate: Sunday, April 14 Time: 1:00pm-3:00pmParents Meet and Greet during the auditionMeet with the Director at 2:30pm The City Ballet of Cleveland (CBC) audition is open to all serious dancers of ballet ages 10-21. The company has two annual performances in May and December, as well as performances at All Ohio Dance Festival, local schools and more. Applications are available at the Company bulletin board and online at www.cityballetofcleveland.org under Company information. Potential dancers do not have to be students at Cleveland City Dance. All dancers must be a minimum of 10 years old by September 2019; be currently taking ballet and jazz. Notice of nondiscriminatory policy; The City Ballet of Cleveland does not discriminate based on race, color, national and ethnic origin, ancestry or nationality in its admissions policies, scholarship programs or any other company activities administered. If you do not take ballet classes at Cleveland City Dance and make it into the Company, you would need your current dance school to sign off monthly to confirm you are taking the required dance training necessary to be a member with City Ballet of Cleveland. All potential Company members must audition in the Spring prior to the upcoming season. This includes all current Company members. There is a $25 non-refundable audition fee (cash or check). Applications are due the Wednesday, April 10 before the audition. Applications arriving after Wednesday will be assessed and additional $10. The audition class will be taught by the Company Artistic and Executive Director, Courtney J. Laves-Mearini. If unable to attend the April audition. In lieu of an in-personal audition, one may submit a DVD audition. The DVD audition requirements are: A 15-20-minute demonstration of barre and center technique. The barre technique shown should include pliés, battement tendus, battement jété, ronde de jambe, passé, développé en croix, grands battements and balances on one leg. The center technique should include adagio, pirouettes, petite allegro and grande allegro. (For advance female dancers, the center should be on pointe.) A classical variation one to two minutes in length. (On pointe for advanced ladies) This is to show your technical abilities along with performing presence. Obsessively seeking the magic water which will give him immortality, he will stop at nothing to achieve this end. He may be perceived by the audience to be the villain of the play, but he knows differently. OLDER WINNIE / ENSEMBLE - Seeking a female between 55 - 75 to play Winnie as part of a montage that ends the play. The actress should possess strong acting, singing and dance skills. Additionally, the actress playing older Winnie will be part of the Ensemble in the rest of the play. ONE ADDITIONAL MALE ENSEMBLE MEMBER - 18 or older. The Producers the Mel Brooks musical Directed by Keli Schimelpfenig Musical Direction by Anthony Trifiletti Choreography by Pamela Shirtz A scheming producer and his mousy accountant aim to produce the biggest flop on Broadway in Mel Brooks' laugh-out-loud spectacle. Preparation Those auditioning will be asked to sing a 32 bar cut in a vocal selection that reflects the style of the show. Bring your sheet music in the proper key.
