When Claude receives his draft notice, he must decide whether to join the Tribe in resistance, or sacrifice his ideals and, possibly his life, by bending to the pressures of society and his conservative parents. Over 20 years ago, we started with a simple notion – the Bard belongs to the people, and the people deserve to hear his works in the open air as intended and free of charge. This summer, we are proud to present THE COMEDY OF ERRORS and JULIUS CAESAR. THE COMEDY OF ERRORS - directed by Chennelle Bryant-Harris Performance Dates June 19 – July 5 Rehearsals begin early May JULIUS CAESAR - directed by Dusten Welch Performance Dates July 17 – August 2 Rehearsals begin in June Afternoon Auditions: Saturday, March 28 from 1pm – 4pm Evening Auditions: Monday, March 30 from 6:30pm – 9:30pm Callbacks (invitation only) will be held Wednesday, April 1 from 6:30pm - 9:30pm Auditions will be held at: Ensemble Theatre 2843 Washington Blvd. Cleveland Hts. Total delivery time of both monologues combined should not exceed four minutes. At least one of your two monologues must be from the works of Shakespeare. North Pointe Ballet Presents “What’s Your Why?” Repertoire Concert When: March 14th, 7:00 pm and March 15th 2:00 pm. Where: The Lorain Palace Theater, 617 Broadway Ave., Lorain What: “What’s Your Why?” is NPB’s second annual repertory concert. This encore performance will reflect on what motivates dancers, artists, and members of the community through classical and contemporary pieces. The performance will begin with contemporary repertoire that challenges the dancers with athleticism and artistry, and features video interview of the dancers answering the question “why do you dance?” NPB will then present excerpts of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake as they showcase the technical, classical strength of the company and invited student participants with choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. The program will conclude with a new work by Artistic Director Janet Dziak that will engage the audience as she tells her personal story of why she started North Pointe Ballet through movement. The NPB band will return to share the stage and provide live music for this dynamic piece. With music and lyrics by Sondheim, and book by George Furth, the production, which highlights the ups and downs of marriage and relationships, was nominated for a record-setting 14 Tony Awards, winning six. The show was considered ground-breaking at the time because unlike most musicals, which follow a well-developed linear plot, Company uses songs presented as short vignettes in no particular chronological order to deal with adult themes and relationships that revolve around one of the character's 35th birthday. While Robert enjoys his bachelor lifestyle, his friends use the celebration of his birthday to push him to get happily married just like they are. As the story unfolds, Robert gets a closer look at what marital bliss involves and is not so sure that marriage is for him. Some of the more famous songs from Company include "Being Alive," "The Ladies Who Lunch," "Side by Side by Side," and "Another Hundred People." Company is directed by Rich Jagunic, with Sonny Sonnhalter as assistant director and Debra Burkhart as musical director. The producers are Mark Durbin and Gary Maher. The talented cast includes Jessica DeFrange, Brad Hills, Karen Spiegler, Brad Kisner, Adrienne Smedley, Will Crosby, Don Bernardo, Jennifer Kubinski, Brian Pichola, Libby Merriman, Sean Donovan, Amanda Smith, Ellie Kelly and Darlene Rocco. This marks the second production as The Hudson Players' celebrates its 75th anniversary season, following a successful run of the comedy Noises Off in November. The camp culminates in a Red Carpet Premiere of their film at The Capitol Theatre where their movie will be seen by a packed house of filmmakers, media, fans, friends and family.
