TMP SUMMER INTENSIVE 2020PRE-PROFESSIONAL (12 - 18 YRS)JULY 27TH - AUGUST 1ST, 2020 This one week intensive is geared for serious-minded dancers interested in furthering themselves as creative artists and who wish to deepen and grow their technical and performance knowledge. This intensive provides a rigorous daily schedule in professional training, creative practice and rehearsals taught by TMP artistic directors, company members, as well as notable guest artists in the dance community. The program will focus on modern dance technique, contemporary, ballet, improvisation, composition, injury prevention and somatic practices. In addition to movement courses, the program includes courses designed to prepare young artists for a career in dance, such as, resume building, dance on film and marketing. As part of our marketing course, each artist will receive dance action shots for their portfolio. PROGRAM DETAILS Date: July 27th - August 1st, 2020 Time: 10am-4pm (M-F) Noon - 9:30 pm (Sat) Location: Pilgrim Congregational Church, 2592 W 14th St, Cleveland, OH 44113 (Tremont, Ohio) Note: The last day of the intensive will be held at Parma-Snow Branch Auditorium (2121 Snow Rd, Parma, OH 44134). North Pointe Ballet Presents “What’s Your Why?” Repertoire Concert When: March 14th, 7:00 pm and March 15th 2:00 pm. Where: The Lorain Palace Theater, 617 Broadway Ave., Lorain What: “What’s Your Why?” is NPB’s second annual repertory concert. This encore performance will reflect on what motivates dancers, artists, and members of the community through classical and contemporary pieces. The performance will begin with contemporary repertoire that challenges the dancers with athleticism and artistry, and features video interview of the dancers answering the question “why do you dance?” NPB will then present excerpts of Tchaikovsky’s *Swan Lake* as they showcase the technical, classical strength of the company and invited student participants with choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. The program will conclude with a new work by Artistic Director Janet Dziak that will engage the audience as she tells her personal story of why she started North Pointe Ballet through movement. The NPB band will return to share the stage and provide live music for this dynamic piece. We are excited to begin planning our 2021-2022 season and we’d love for you to join us. In our intimate and unique performance space we provide our audience with a variety of theatre. Our five-show season includes a comedy, a drama, a children’s or theatre for young audience production, a musical and a holiday show. As a future director, the next is up to you! 1. If you have not directed with us previously, submit a theatrical resume, detailing your experience and include two references from people you have worked with. If you have directed with us previously, this step is not necessary. 2. *ALL* applicants should submit a list of productions, at least *one from each genre that fits the description of our season*, that you are interested in directing. Please include with each show a short description of the piece (which may be copied and pasted from the licensing website). 3. Add to the description of each show why you believe it would work in our unique space. (Theatre in the round space, close proximity to the audience, very little backstage storage space, four possible entrances two of which are accessed from wings outside of the theater)* * Please contact the theatre for a tour of the space at your earliest convenience. We understand that there might be a genre you aren’t as comfortable with, less experienced in or less passionate about. Please communicate that in your submission as it will not automatically exclude you. Our process begins now and ends next September as outlined below. April 1: ALL SUBMISSION ARE DUE.
