Sides will be available @ 2pm on 11/12. *Breakdowns*: Austin - 30's - 50's Male, Any Ethnicity Lee - 30's - 50's, Male, Any Ethnicity Mom - 60's, Female, Any Ethnicity *Synopsis*: TRUE WEST is a character study that examines the relationship between Austin, a screenwriter, and his older brother Lee. It is set in the kitchen of their mother's home 40 miles east of Los Angeles. Austin is house-sitting while their mother is in Alaska, and there he is confronted by his brother, who proceeds to bully his way into staying at the house and using Austin's car. In addition, the screenplay which Austin is pitching to his connection in Hollywood somehow gets taken over by the pushy con-man tactics of Lee, and the brothers find themselves forced to cooperate in the creation of a story that will make or break both their lives. In the process, the conflict between the brothers creates a heated situation in which their roles as successful family man and nomadic drifter are somehow reversed, and each man finds himself admitting that he had somehow always wished he were in the other's shoes. *Details*: *Rehearsals*: Monday, January 9th - February 9th. Darryl Bojanowski's *The Case of the Counterfeit Napoleon, *A Sherlock Holmes Musical Mystery inspired by *The Adventure of the Six Napoleons* will be released for theatrical production as soon as we complete the demo recording. We need boys and girls ages 8-14 to sing a short portion of two of the songs sung by The Baker Street Irregulars, record their audition, and email it to us. Originally produced in 1995 at A Premiere Playhouse, a non-Equity professional musical theatre in Columbus, Ohio, the musical is the only known work that features all three of Arthur Conan Doyle's famous characters, Mrs. Hudson, Moriarty, and The Baker Street Irregulars, in the same show. *Auditioning for specific roles for Barefoot in the Park* The Luminescent Moon Theatre is presenting Barefoot in the Park. The roles of Corie and Paul are filled. Barefoot in the Park written by Neil Simon and is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com is a quirky love story between the newlyweds Paul and Corie as they begin their new life in their top floor apartment. The show will perform January 20th and 21st at 7:00 p.m. and 22nd at 2:00 p.m.. Rehearsals will be Sunday evenings and one other weekday evening depending on cast availability as this is a small cast. We will have a tech week beginning Sunday January 15th-19th, 7-9:30 p.m.. Roles needed are: Victor Velasco: (40s and up) The quirky and charming neighbor to the Bratters. Ethel Banks: (40s and up) Corie’s even tempered and kind mother. Convergence-continuum continues its 2022 season with INSURRECTION: HOLDING HISTORY, by Robert O’Hara. Struggling with his graduate thesis on slavery, Ron, a gay, black student at Columbia, attends a family reunion to celebrate his great-great-grandfather T.J.’s 189th birthday. Despite the fact that T.J. can’t move, hear, or speak, T.J. (given voice by the spirit of Mutha Wit) convinces Ron to take him back to his old home in Virginia. Fracturing the space-time continuum as they go further south, they arrive on the eve of Nat Turner’s doomed 1831 uprising to see Nat Turner himself racing through the woods. Encouraged to understand his ‘past’ in order to understand his ‘present’ and the perception-altering confrontation with what it means to be ‘free’, Ron discovers that how the authenticity of history unfolds depends on the perception of the storyteller. “With a script that ranges from mildly disorienting to startlingly evocative, the director Jeannine Gaskin draws some excellent performances out of her nine-person cast. But what resonates most clearly is the need to confront and understand our past for, as George Orwell said and this play reminds us, "He who controls the past controls the future, and he who controls the present controls the past." “ Christine Howey, Cleveland Scene Winner of the Oppenheimer Award for Best New American Play in 1996, Insurrection: Holding History is a fanciful dramatization of Black history by multi award-winning playwright and director Robert O’Hara. Written during his artist-in-residency at the NY Public Theater, the play garnered immediate acclaim for the burgeoning playwright earning comparisons to a cross between Roots and The Wizard of Oz. The San Francisco Examiner called it “One seriously hilarious and hilariously serious play… remarkably exciting, deeply provocative, [and] comically profound.” Wonderfully witty with time-bending fantastical turns, Insurrection: Holding History is a wild, thrilling ride between past and present. Insurrection: Holding History is directed by Jeannine Gaskin.
