AUDITIONS North Coast Men's Chorus Disney PRIDE in Concert Sunday, March 26 16 6:00 PM Middleburg Heights Community United Church of Christ 7165 Big Creek Pkwy Middleburg Heights, OH 44130 The North Coast Men's Chorus is holding auditions for Disney PRIDE in Concert on Sunday, March 26 at 6:00. If you have always dreamed of performing at Disneyland or being in a Disney production of any kind, this is YOUR CHANCE! This concert was developed by Boston Gay Men's Chorus and the folks at Disney and will be a multimedia musical celebration of LGBTQ life, love, family, and perseverance! This first-of-its-kind, family friendly show draws inspiration from iconic Disney films like The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Mary Poppins; modern classics like Coco, Zootopia, and Wreck-It Ralph; and the immersive music of Disney Theme Parks. The multimedia spectacular will feature NCMC performing enchanting new musical arrangements all accompanied by animation from Disney and Pixar films. Using our mission and vision as a guide, personal stories from an array of chorus members showcase the individual meaning and connections drawn from Disney's timeless and universal music for all people! Disney PRIDE in Concert will be presented on June 17 & 18 at the Breen Center at St. Ignatius High School. Rehearsals are held weekly on Sunday evenings from 6:30 -9:30. Faith Lutheran Church - Kent, Ohio is seeking to hire a part-time Organist to enhance congregational worship by providing organ and/or piano accompaniment for hymns and liturgy at the Sunday worship service. Responsibilities include playing at all Sunday services and special festival services including but not limited to mid-week services for Advent and Lent, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Easter. In addition, work with the Pastor and Worship Board to coordinate the liturgical theme for the day, and select organ and/or piano music consistent with the practices of the Lutheran church. Other duties and responsibilities are listed in the job description, available upon request. Qualifications include bachelor's degree or equivalent skill level in organ, piano, and keyboard techniques; ability to perform a wide variety of musical styles; one year of experience playing liturgy music and accompanying choirs and soloists; effective interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational skills; and understand the importance of music in the liturgy. Painting the Town: Art Competition for Utility Box Designs Building on the success of several years of traffic utility box projects, the Shaker Arts Council (SHAC) is pleased to announce this year’s project: *Painting the Town*. SHAC is sponsoring a juried *art competition* for the design of *utility boxes* located in Shaker Heights. Local artists are invited to participate. All designs must be submitted electronically on the template provided. Designs and applications must be submitted to SHAC via email ( info(a)shakerartscouncil.org) no later than *Monday **10 April 2023.* Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 21 years old and live or work in Shaker Heights. Applicants who reside in the Shaker Heights School District or are a member of the Shaker Arts Council also are eligible. Applicants may submit more than one (1) design, but each must be submitted in a separate email. There are no entry fees. Artists retain all copyrights to their artwork. All entries must be anonymous. *Do not sign your submittal nor indicate your name on the submitted design document.* André Taylor, Art Educator, will serve as this year’s jury chair. Since all of the boxes have slightly different dimensions, artists whose work is selected may have to reformat their designs to fit the matched boxes. Design Criteria: - Black or very dark backgrounds are not permitted. - Words are not permitted in the designs, per the City of Shaker Heights code. - Art created in non-digital media must be digitized for submittal. - Final designs must be submitted as camera-ready, 600 dpi files. By submitting a design proposal, all artists agree to: - allow SHAC to use images of the designs on printed materials, websites and social media for promotional purposes only; - allow SHAC to photograph the work; - allow SHAC to submit the proposal to the city’s Shaker Heights Arts Task Force for their final approval and to obtain the artist’s modification of the design, if necessary, to meet the city’s requirements.
