We need YOUR HELP BACKSTAGE! Every wanted to work behind the scenes in the theater? Now’s your chance! SCA is proud to share we are offering a brand new summer workshop entitled *“Backstage ARTS”* programming. This is meant for any students in or outside of theater, art, dance and music to help assist us with our backstage needs for our summer production of LION KING JR. Ever wanted to make a mask? Now’s your chance. Good at sewing? We need help putting costumes together! Like to paint? Props and sets? You are perfect for this! From Ernest Thayer's iconic "Casey at the Bat" to Grantham Rice's "Casey's Revenge," baseball has inspired some of America's greatest poets and writers to create dozens of dazzling works of literature, both praising and damning this annual rite of spring. The words of Franklin P. Adams, Marianne Moore, May Sarton, Gregory Corso, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and many more, extol the excitements, sorrows and memorable moments of this marvelous game. "Diamonds - the Poetry of Baseball " will be performed at the Wright Chapel of the Lakewood Presbyterian Church - 14502 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, Ohio at 7: 00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29th. CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY FILMMAKING CAMP FOR TEENS Located in historic Playhouse Square, Odyssey Program at CSU’s School of Film & Media Arts offers 4 different residential or day camps for teens (aged 13-18) interested in filmmaking. * All Camps taught by CSU faculty with workshops by Industry Professional Guest Artists. * All students will develop a College Admissions Interview video. Experiential Three-Week Camp, June 11-June 30, 2023 Each student produces, shoots, and edits their own individual film project. Intensive: Acting and Directing, July 9-July 16, 2023 Student Directors edit scenes live in FMA’s TV Control Room while Student Actors perform on Professional Sound Stages. Intensive: Screenwriting, July 16-July 23, 2023 At camp’s end, each student has a full Staged Reading of their script. Call for Playwrights To Submit 15-minute Plays For "Wake Up to Healing Arts: Using Performance and Media for Direction, Hope, Health and Total Well-being, 2.0." (Please share with your directors, students, casts, social media.) Wake Up and Live’s Actors’ Studio (WUAL) is continuing its “Healing Arts” project. We are inviting playwrights to submit 15-minute plays or scenes on the topics of depression and / or teen suicide which can be performed on Cleveland area stages and YouTube . Selected stories will depict mental health challenges the character faces, is overcoming, or has overcome, which allow him / her to now live an improved mental health life. *“Wake Up to Healing** Arts” Submissions should:* Show how the performing arts (drama, vocal & instrumental music, dance, poetry) may be used to help address mental health issues in addition to / instead of clinical methods. Submissions: . 15- minute plays, monologues or scenes may have no more than 3 characters. . Describe some mental health *CHALLENGES *the character has overcome, and / or is currently experiencing. .
