*REMINDER!* * Time to Submit* * "Healing Arts" Plays* *Due Fri. 6/2/23* *Call for Playwrights to submit 15-minute Plays* *for* *"Wake Up to Healing Arts: Using Performance and Media for Direction, Hope, Health and Total Well-being, 2.0"* Wake Up and Live’s Actors’ Studio (WUAL) is continuing its “Healing Arts” project. We are inviting playwrights to submit 15-minute plays or scenes on the topics of depression and / or teen suicide which can be performed on Cleveland area stages and YouTube. Selected stories will depict mental health challenges the character faces, is overcoming, or has overcome, which allow him / her to now live an improved mental health life. “Wake Up to Healing Arts” Submissions should: Show how the performing arts (drama, vocal & instrumental music, dance, poetry) may be used to help address mental health issues in addition to / instead of clinical methods. Submissions: - 15- minute plays, monologues or scenes may have no more than 3 characters. - Describe some mental health CHALLENGES the character has overcome, and / or is currently experiencing. - How using drama, music and dance can help heal mental health issues - Issues contributing to mental health challenges: Depression; Anxiety; Loss of Income; Jobs; Family; Toxic Relationships; Domestic abuse; Bullying IF Selected: 1. Plays, monologues and scenes will be performed on stage and on “Wake Up And Live With the Arts” YouTube 2. Stipend will be paid. Shining Star CLE 2023 Premiere solo-singing competition in Northeast Ohio The Seventh Annual Shining Star CLE 2023<https://www.menorahpark.org/donate/shining-star-cle/overview> is a wonderful opportunity for 10 high school students to sing on the stage of the prestigious Mimi Ohio Theatre at Playhouse Square in a competition for over $18,000 in college scholarships. To be eligible you must be a high school student with a 2024-2027 graduation date and live in Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit or Wayne counties. The high school music department of the first-place winner receives a bonus as well.
