This production will be unlike any version of The Wizard of Oz you’ve seen while maintaining all the characters, songs, and story of the beloved 1939 movie classic. Dorothy is just trying to get the heck outta Oz and we want you to be a part of it. We at Theatre Agápe are committed to creating true inclusion in the theatre. The adaptive nature of the project means we are tailoring the rehearsal process and performances to not only support but showcase participants of differing abilities and disabilities. After all, The Wizard of Oz teaches us that sometimes we have trouble seeing the gifts we've had inside us all along. *Audition Notice* STOP KISS By Diana Son Directed by Stephanie Wilbert Lorain County Community College announces non-equity auditions for our upcoming production of *STOP KISS.* We are seeking 6 performers and various production positions for this production. Story Synopsis: After Callie meets Sara, the two unexpectedly fall in love. Their first kiss provokes a violent attack that transforms their lives in a way they could never anticipate. *Available Roles* - *Callie *– late 20s to early 30s. - *Sara *– mid 20s to early 30s. - *George *– late 20s to early 30s. - *Peter *– mid 20s to early 30s. - *Mrs. Winsley *– early 40s to early 50s. - *Detective Cole *– late 30s to mid 40s. - *Nurse *– late 30s to mid 40s. LCCC Theatre embraces diversity and inclusion and utilizes a non-traditional casting policy. She is the absolute embodiment of the values and polite society of a bygone age … all except for the poisoning thing ... *MARTHA BREWSTER* (Female 50-75 or able to play age). Very sweet, but more submissive than Abby, though still a strong woman. Always wears a high collar. *ELAINE HARPER:* (Female 25-40 or able to play age). An attractive girl, surprisingly wise in the way of the world for a minister’s daughter. She is full of zest and spunk. She must progress from casual happiness to utter bliss, to twisted confusion, to stark fear, to relief…so the actress must be able to hit many levels. *MORTIMER BREWSTER:* (Male 30-50 or able to play age). Abby and Martha’s nephew. Once he discovers the first body, he must be electrified. This actor pretty much controls the show. He must be capable of physical comedy, have solid comedic timing, all while remaining highly likable and engaging. *TEDDY BREWSTER:* (40-60 or able to play age) Mortimer’s kind-hearted brother. He believes he is Teddy Roosevelt, a belief he must make very real for the audience. He is serious in his portrayal and therefore funny, *JONATHAN BREWSTER:* (40-60 or able to play age). A psychopath with numerous murders to his credit, he must be an imposing, scary guy! Short-tempered and creepy Jonathan is a definite presence. *DR. EINSTEIN* (Male, any age, but probably leaning toward 40-60). He is a German plastic surgeon, so must have an accent to show it. He is submissive, maybe even intimidated by Jonathan. He is a good guy whose life has gone bad. It would be good for the audience to sympathize with him. *THE REVEREND DR, HARPER* (Male 50-70) THE ACTOR PLAYING THIS ROLE MAY BE CAST IN AN ADDITIONAL ROLE AS WELL. As Elaine’s father, he shows concern about the upcoming marriage. He is dignified, refined and mild-mannered, but steadfast in his concerns. Cameo. *OFFICER BROPHY:* (25-50) A likable sort of fellow. The typical policeman on the neighborhood beat who knows his “people.” *OFFICER KLEIN:* (25-40) Brophy’s partner, who doesn’t talk as much as his counterpart, but who values his job and the people he protects. *OFFICER O’HARA:* (any age, may be male of female). Full of life, O’Hara is a good- natured wannabe playwright who is eager to succeed with his /her writing … maybe a bit too eager! This character doesn’t mean to come across as annoying, but to Mortimer, maybe he/she is! *MR. GIBBS:* (55-80 or able to play age. THIS ACTOR MAY BE ASKED TO ALSO PLAY OTHER ROLES). An elderly man who wishes to rent a room and nearly falls victim to the “wine” until Mortimer chases him away, Cameo. *LIEUTENANT ROONEY:* (any age and may be played by male or female). This is the person in charge of the local police precinct, very little patience for blunders. This character runs a pretty tight ship being clearly in charge at all times. *WITHERSPOON:* (any age) This is the superintendent to Happy Dale. Mild-mannered and kind, this character can be played by male or female. If a male, it is possible this role would be combined with Rev. CLEVELAND PUBLIC THEATRE IS HIRING PART-TIME SUPPORTING TEACHING ARTISTS CPT is seeking *part-time Supporting Teaching Artists (ongoing CMHA Cleveland Act Now programs STA and Substitute Teaching Artists for CMHA CAN and CAN Academy) *to assist in implementing CPT Education programming. Theatre experience is a plus. We are looking to build a strong core of artists who are dedicated to creating work to further racial and economic justice. ------------------------------ CMHA CLEVELAND ACT NOW CMHA Cleveland Act Now (CAN) takes place in partnership with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) at community centers for children and families who live in public housing. Under the guidance of CPT Teaching Artists, young artists learn how to create and perform their own plays, dance, poetry, music, and visual art. These multidisciplinary performing arts activities improve academic skills, instill empathy and responsibility, build character, and enhance creative thinking. The students regularly perform at CMHA community centers as well as arts festivals throughout Cleveland. CMHA CAN is offered in four CMHA communities: Lakeview Terrace, Woodhill Homes, Outhwaite Homes, and Riverside Park. CLEVELAND ACT NOW ACADEMY (CAN ACADEMY) Cleveland Act Now (CAN) Academy is a free performing arts program for younger teens and youth from Cleveland and surrounding neighborhoods, held on-site at Cleveland Public Theatre. The Juniors program serves youth ages 7-10, and the Seniors program serves youth ages 11-14. Young artists engage in rigorous (and fun!) theatre training, learning acting fundamentals, script analysis, storytelling techniques, and play creation. ------------------------------ SKILLS REQUIRED - Experience in at least one theatre-related arts discipline (dance, drumming, singing, acting, creative writing, etc.) - Experience teaching children and/or teenagers - Ability to travel to multiple sites (CMHA CAN) - Demonstrated ability to be or become a strong role model for Cleveland youth - Energy, responsiveness, flexibility, creativity - Attention to detail, ability to work independently - Openness to learning new techniques in the creation of original performance material *SUPPORTING TEACHING ARTIST, CMHA CAN (UP TO 4)/CAN ACADEMY (1)— JOB RESPONSIBILITIES* - Successfully supporting Teaching Artists & Site Coordinators in implementing CMHA CAN and/or CAN Academy programming, actively engaging with youth as they build storytelling skills (incorporating body, voice, and ensemble) and community - Collaborating with CMHA CAN, CAN Academy, and/or CPT Staff from applicable departments to successfully present artistic work at assigned sites - CMHA CAN youth present one fully produced performance of original work in late February/ March and present additional community performances throughout the year. - CAN Academy youth perform at the end of each session and at community events throughout the year. - Attending trainings and/or meetings with CMHA CAN and/or CAN Academy teams and Director of Education to share outline highlights, session progress, questions, and opportunities regarding program implementation (1-2 hours weekly) - CAN Academy team hours are from 3:30pm-6:30pm at CPT - CAN Academy Juniors and CAN Academy Seniors both meet twice weekly. - The CAN Academy STA would support four sessions each week. - CMHA CAN team hours are either scheduled from 3:00pm-5:30pm or 3:30pm-6:00pm - Each CMHA CAN team would support sessions in two CMHA communities. - CMHA CAN ensembles meet twice weekly; each CMHA CAN STA would support four sessions each week. - Completing other duties that relate to the CMHA CAN and/ or CAN Academy programs as determined by Teaching Artists & Site Coordinators (recruitment, communication, record keeping) - This position pays $16-18/hour, depending on experience ------------------------------ *We are looking to fill these positions as soon as possible. *Please send a resume and letter of interest to *Nicole Sumlin, Director of Education *at nsumlin(a)cptonline.org by *end of day Monday, September 25, 2022*.
