The Millennial Project is thrilled to announce auditions for our upcoming production of "Hairspray"! We are especially eager to see boys audition and showcase their skills. Auditions will be held on October 14th from 6-10 pm at The Knight Stage. Please note that this is a non-union and non-paid opportunity. Only individuals aged 18 and above are eligible to audition, and the roles of Edna Turnblad and Velma Von Tussle have already been cast. We are dedicated to creating a diverse and dynamic production, and we encourage performers of all backgrounds, especially boys, to audition. If you're interested, please prepare two audition pieces that are 16-32 bars in the style of the show. We're seeking the best singers, actors, and dancers to bring this production to life. Callbacks will be held on October 21st from 6:30-9:30 pm on the Civic Theatre's Main Stage. Hello Friends of Fascinating old Building, theatre, barn Art, the beauty of rural Ohio, and Discover Bath Barns! As part of our 2024 summer of barns, Discover Bath Barns and the Western Reserve Playhouse partnered on hosting a Heritage Barn Quilt Competition. The prize for the winner of the contest was to have their 12"x12" quilt square converted to a painted barn quilt and hung on the Western Reserve Playhouse barn. We're pleased to announce that the winning design, titled "Sun of Bath," created by Laura Blanche, has been made into an 8'x8' barn quilt and will be formally unveiled during a short program this Friday, October 4th at 7:00 pm. You are invited to join us for the official unveiling of the Western Reserve Playhouse's "Sun of Bath" barn quilt to the community. In addition, if your Friday evening plans permit, at 8:00 p.m. on this same night is the Western Reserve Playhouse's opening performance of Arthur Miller's iconic drama, Death of a Salesman. Location: Lawrence Upper School, Sagamore Hills Job Overview: As Music Director, you will be responsible for overseeing and guiding all musical aspects of our production for students in 7th-12th grades. (Cast size is typically between 25-35). You will collaborate closely with the stage director, performers, and choreographer. Your role will involve leading rehearsals, modifying/arranging music as needed, and running audio accompaniment from the sound booth during performances.We will be using show tracks in this production, but basic piano skills are needed to lead rehearsals. Schedule: - Production dates: April 24-27. - Rehearsals begin the first week of February. - *Rehearsals will be held 3x/week from 3:30-5:00 and the occasional Saturday. The rehearsal schedule will be based around your availability, but do expect to be present at approximately three rehearsals per week. * Key Responsibilities: - Musical Leadership: Lead and conduct rehearsals. We will be using stage tracks, so conducting a live ensemble is not necessary. - Music Arrangements: Arrange and adapt music for different ensembles as needed. - Music Technology: Work show tracks (you will be trained on this). - Collaboration: Work closely with stage director and choreographer throughout the rehearsal process. - Performance Preparation: Oversee and prepare musical scores, ensuring all parts are properly notated and rehearsed. Qualifications: - Experience: Previous experience as a Music Director or in a similar role - Skills: Basic piano skills required, although providing full accompaniment is not necessary since we will be using show tracks. The Boyz are five all-singing, all-dancing heartthrobs from Ohio: Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham. With their tight harmonies and spectacular choreography, the Altar Boyz delight their audience. Performing a full set, including their signature hits "Rhythm In Me," "The Calling" and "I Believe," the Boyz question their loyalty to each other and ask whether or not faith is really holding them together. In the end, they deliver a message of unity: "there is no star as bright as its constellation, no harmony in a single voice."
