Auditions for Stow Players Production of Pride and Prejudice by Kate Hamill based on the novel by Jane Austen will be held on Saturday December 14 from 1PM to 6PM and Sunday December 15 from 5:30PM to 8:30PM. Davis and stage managed by Aaron Lord. We are seeking a diverse cast of talented and dedicated actors ages 18 and up. All roles are available to actors of appropriate age and any ethnicity or gender identity. Auditions will consists of reading from the script. Please bring a headshot and resume if available. Please bring your calendar to declare any conflicts between January 2nd and March 1st. Rehearsals will begin in early January and run Sunday afternoons and Monday through Thursday evenings. Cast members will only be called for necessary rehearsals. Technical rehearsals are mandatory and will take place Sunday March 2 through Thursday March 6. *She Kills Monsters* By Qui Nguyen Directed by Stephanie Wilbert Lorain County Community College announces our fall theater program production *She Kills Monsters*. *She Kills Monsters* tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. However, when Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all. Performances will occur on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 21 - 23, 2024 at 7:30 pm in the Cirigliano Studio Theatre located on the campus of Lorain County Community College. Upon signing the Memo of Understanding all student actors, designers, crew members, and stage managers, agree that by accepting a role or assignment that s/he/they will disclose all known scheduling conflicts and will not accept another role, position, or job on or off campus which conflicts with the rehearsal or performance duties of the production (especially critical in the fourteen days before and during performances). Somebody’s Children Written by Jose Casas Directed by Ricky Quintana Performances: March 5, 6, 7 2025 at 7:30pm Rehearsals start on: January 13th, 2025 (Possible Pre-Rehearsal Meeting December 9th). Rehearsals will be Monday – Thursday evenings, weekend afternoons depending on cast availability somebody's children introduces us to five teenagers who are part of a subculture that isn't shown or explored in the media in any depth. These kids are homeless, and they, along with their families, stay in a rundown motel known as the El Dorado, which is one of many such motels in horrific condition in their area of the city. All the residents deal with issues such as gang violence, drugs and prostitution. Most of the city authorities do little to rectify the situation. The result is that these families live in a world where every day is a challenge and the idea of home is temporary at best. We share a time in the lives of these five teenagers as they tell us their stories through a series of vignettes. They paint a picture of their lives and the cruel realities in which they struggle to survive—all the while doing so in the shadow of Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth. Yet, through it all, this group of friends takes the time to share their dreams with us, reminding us that hope can exist in even the harshest conditions. CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS: Justin – (Male, 20s-30s) A socially awkward young man who also happens to be low handicap golfer. In real life, his nervousness and uncertainties often overtake his actions. Louise – (Female, 20s-30s) A perfect match for Justin in that she, too, possesses some naive, awkward social graces. She is sexy and sweet and very proud of her accomplishments, but is also given to extreme reactions to set backs. She cries a lot. Bingham – (Male, 30s-50s) The owner of the Quail Valley Country Club. He has been frustrated by years of a mismatched marriage and is intimidated by his wife while mooning over his former love interest, Pamela. Pamela – (Female, 30s-50s) The somewhat cynical divorcee who has left Dickie (Director of the Crouching Squirrel) behind. She is the helper, the fixer upper of things gone bad, the object of Bingham’s devotion. Dickie – (Male, 30s-50s) The insufferable bore who is the Director of the Crouching Squirrel. He dresses loudly and tastelessly meaning that his appearance matches his personality. Muriel – (Female, 30s-50s) The overbearing wife of Bingham. When newcomer Nina enters the world of air guitar, she has a lot to learn about friendship, performance, and staying true to yourself. The story follows five other air guitar players, along with an ensemble of air guitar announcers, who live, breathe, and bleed air guitar.
