This adaptation of the seminal 1980 film will run weekends from March 15 to April 13, 2024, with performances at 7:30 PM on Fridays & Saturdays, and 2 PM matinees on Sun. April 7 & Sat. April 13. Tickets are $21 with a $4 senior/student discount at CVLT.org or 440-247-8955. Directed by Brenton Cochran, with music direction by David W. Coxe and choreography by Jen Justice and Jordon Matthew, this stage adaptation based on the 20th Century Fox Picture promises to entertain audiences with its hilarious tale of friendship, empowerment, and revenge in the Rolodex era. Three unlikely friends, Violet (Tara Corkery), Judy (Stephanie Malfara), and Doralee (MaryBeth Knode), band together to challenge the status quo in their male-dominated office. Faced with the oppressive presence of their obnoxious boss, Franklin Hart, Jr., (Mason Stewart), the trio concocts a daring plan to turn the tables on him and revolutionize the workplace. The talented cast features Mary Fowler (Roz), Isaac Simer (Joe), George Bailey (Dick), Nathan Cochran (Bob), Cory Bryner (Dwayne), Kyle Harris (Josh), Riss Nawa (Margaret), Abby Longshore (Kathy), Dominic Zoeiller (Mr. Tinsworthy), Erin Stewart (Missy), Michela Palma (Maria), Kaitlyn Regan (Elaine), Molly Marquette (Anita), Ariel Brinker (Daphne), Cameron Olin & Uriah Williams. Twin Masks Performing Arts Center in Twinsburg is holding additional auditions for When Shakespeare's Ladies Meet. Production dates are first three weekends in May, Friday and Saturday nights, with performances at 8pm. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, March 5 at 7 pm. We are hoping for as diverse a cast as possible, in ages and ethnicities. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. The premise of this one act play is that five of Shakespeare's iconic leading ladies have learned that Juliet has fallen in love with Romeo, and have converged on the Capulet house to give her romantic advice. Characters include Katharine from The Taming of the Shrew, Portia from The Merchant of Venice, Ophelia from Hamlet, Desdemona from Othello, Cleopatra from Antony and Cleopatra, and Juliet from Romeo and Juliet. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to prepare gourmet delights, and has invited his best friend, Robert, along too to provide the alibi. It’s foolproof; what could possibly go wrong? Well… suppose Robert turns up not realizing quite why he has been invited. Suppose Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers, and consequently determined that Jacqueline will NOT leave for the weekend. Suppose the cook has to pretend to be the mistress and the mistress can’t cook. Suppose everyone’s alibi gets confused with everyone else’s. Painting the Town: Art Competition for Utility Box Designs Building on the success of several years of traffic utility box projects, the Shaker Arts Council (SHAC) is pleased to announce this year’s project: *Painting the Town*. SHAC is sponsoring a juried *art competition* for the design of *utility boxes* located in Shaker Heights. Local artists are invited to participate. All designs must be submitted electronically on the template provided. Designs and applications must be submitted to SHAC via email ( info(a)shakerartscouncil.org) no later than *Friday 22 March 2024.* Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 21 years old and live or work in Shaker Heights. Applicants who reside in the Shaker Heights School District or are a member of the Shaker Arts Council also are eligible. Applicants may submit more than one (1) design, but each must be submitted in a separate email. There are no entry fees. Artists retain all copyrights to their artwork. All entries must be anonymous. *Do not sign your submittal nor indicate your name on the submitted design document.* André Taylor, Art Educator, will serve as this year’s jury chair. Since all of the boxes have slightly different dimensions, artists whose work is selected may have to reformat their designs to fit the matched boxes. Design Criteria: - Black or very dark backgrounds are not permitted. - Words are not permitted in the designs, per the City of Shaker Heights code. - Art created in non-digital media must be digitized for submittal. - Final designs must be submitted as camera-ready, 600 dpi files. By submitting a design proposal, all artists agree to: - allow SHAC to use images of the designs on printed materials, websites and social media for promotional purposes only; - allow SHAC to photograph the work; - allow SHAC to submit the proposal to the city’s Shaker Heights Arts Task Force for their final approval and to obtain the artist’s modification of the design, if necessary, to meet the city’s requirements. Actors, performers, musicians, and tech crew are invited to attend auditions for Matilda the Musical, held on Sunday March 3rd at 1pm and Monday March 4th at 6pm at the Bellevue Society for the Arts. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday March 6th at 6pm. Performances are May 10th, 11th, 12th, 17th, 18th, and 19th. Note: these positions are not paid. We are looking to bring professional level theater to a local level. We need actors of ALL AGES and performers of all kinds. We have main characters, supporting characters, and chorus opportunities for all ages. We also have a unique opportunity for gymnasts, tumblers, acrobats, or similarly experienced movers in breakout roles. *Performers *- come prepared with a monologue and 32 bars of a song outside of the show (acapella or your own backing track music).
