Hoover Auditorium Technical Director/Audio Engineer - Lakeside Chautauqua Start Date: mid-late April 2024 Position Summary: Hoover Auditorium, in Lakeside Chautauqua, is home to a busy summer arts series which presents multiple events each week between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Programs include a wide variety of evening & weekend events including rock bands, symphony concerts, family variety acts, lectures, worship events and more. The Hoover Technical Director/Audio Engineer (TD) prepares for and manages the day-to-day production operations of Hoover Auditorium, a 2500 seat historic proscenium theatre. In addition to serving as the lead Audio Engineer, they require a strong working knowledge of lighting and video production/systems. Responsibilities include the daily management of all events, as well as cleaning and maintenance of facilities and equipment. The TD advances technical requirements on all contracts and supervises the seasonal crew. The TD works on a flexible schedule basis and is required to work all major events in Hoover to ensure safety and appropriate facility operation. Must be available full time from May through August, and ideally through Labor Day weekend. Part time hours required in March/April and September/October. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (To include other duties that may be assigned.) * Advances all contracts in regard to technical requirements for events, including crew, in-house and rental equipment * Coordinates the daily load in/set up/load out for performances including lighting, audio, video, staging, production and backline * Serves as the FOH Audio Engineer for all shows (Yamaha Rivage CSR3) and oversees all lighting and video production * Schedules, trains and supervises production crew * Coordinates building and equipment maintenance in a timely manner * Maintains safe environment both backstage and front of house for all crew, performers and patrons * Ensures customer service and satisfaction are of highest priority with all staff * Communicates with all parties in an efficient and effective manner * Professionally represents organization at all times in the facility and community whether on or off the clock * Evaluates Hoover stage crew mid and post season * Evaluate the Hoover season programming with relation to mission, audience and venue Education and/or Experience: Experience in technical theatre production is required, strong audio background preferred. Associate degree or higher in technical theatre or related field preferred. Experience with managing high school or college age crew strongly desired. Must possess strong communication skills, ability to motivate others and work independently and as a team member. To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. In an age where musicians depend on patronage to pursue their craft, the post is a near guarantee of fame and fortune - which is why the 7 candidates are willing to resort to any lengths to secure it. Half *AIRPLANE! *and half* AMADEUS*, *BACH AT LEIPZIG* is a fugue-like farcical web of bribery, blackmail, and betrayal set against the backdrop of questions about humanity, God, and art. Directed by Michael Glavan and produced by Craig Joseph, the production stars Carolyn Demanelis, Scott Esposito, Heidi Harris*, Molly McFadden, Luke Wehner*, and Kadijah Wingo. ORMACO Features Fire & Grace for its Spring World Tour of Music Residency

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) presents Fire & Grace for its Spring 2024 World Tour of Music Residency. Fire & Grace is an eclectic collaboration between California-based guitarist William Coulter and Oberlin College Conservatory violinist Edwin Huizinga. This unique duo explores the connective musical elements of classical, folk, and contemporary traditions from around the world. Fire & Grace’s repertoire is vast, ranging from Bach to Vivaldi, tango to Celtic tunes, traditional Bulgarian to American fiddle tunes and waltzes, all played with a sense of discovery and commitment to the elements of passion and virtuosity — fire and grace — found in these diverse traditions. Workshops will take place the week of April 15, with programs at the Medina County Juvenile Detention Center, the Western Reserve Masonic Community, I Promise School, Kent State University and the HMS Conservatory of Music in Hudson. A culminating free concert will take place on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 2 pm at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 South High Street, Akron, OH 44326. Workshops for the general public will take place on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 6:30 pm at the Ellet Branch Library, 2470 E. Market Street, Akron, OH, 44312; Thursday, April 18 at 3:30 pm at the Odom Boulevard Branch Library, 600 Vernon Odom Boulevard, Akron, OH, 44307; Thursday, April 18 at 6:30 pm at the Northwest Akron Branch Library, 1720 Shatto Avenue, Akron, OH 44313; and Saturday, April 20 at 2:00 pm at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 South High Street, Akron, OH, 44329.
