*The Department of Dance Presents Imagatorium Spring 2025* Case Western Reserve University’s Department of Dance announces its final production of 2024-2025 season, *Imagatorium*, a concert featuring dance works by graduate students Megan Gregory, Noah Hardy and Maizy Windham, along with senior capstone projects by Hannah Boehringer and Natalie Tangpricha. Performances are April 10, 11, 12 at 7:30 p.m.. All performances are located at Mather Dance Center, 11040 Bellflower Road, on the Case Western Reserve campus in University Circle. Gregory’s ensemble work *Sands* is a metaphor for the human experience and aims to capture the waxing and waning of one’s resolve to face ongoing adversity. Time drags on as the dancers struggle together and as individuals, and their resilience drives any progress made along the way. This glimpse into their experiences conveys that it’s not always easy to weather the storm of life, and sometimes the journey can’t be made alone. *Vignettes*, choreographed by Noah Hardy, is a triptych of miniature dances set to a variety of music. Utilizing a combination of projection mapping and LiDAR tracking, the dance has a unique visual identity that follows each of the four dancers, as the identities all begin to blur together throughout the piece. Maizy Windham’s *Jeu de Jour* is a piece for four dancers, a set of three chairs, and contemporary choreography inspired by the movement vocabulary of childhood games. *Jeu de Jour* expands upon this idea of recreation and competition through the relationships between dancers to uncover the outcomes of intrepid play. *Flux* is a collaboration work by Hannah Boehringer and Natalie Tangpricha. This duet is a journey between chaos and order through playful yet powerful movement. Solo and duet sections depict a struggle for dominance, with each shift guided by the music’s ever-changing structure. While fast-paced and rhythmic, moments of pause offer space for reflection. The piece ultimately highlights the fluid interplay between structure and spontaneity, immersing the audience in its contrasting forces. *Ticket Information* Tickets are $15 for CWRU students with ID, $17 for seniors age 60+, CWRU personnel and non-CWRU students, and $20 for general admission. *Painting the Town: Art Competition for Utility Box Designs* Building on the success of nine years of traffic utility box projects, the Shaker Arts Council (SHAC) is pleased to announce this year’s project: *Painting the Town*. SHAC is sponsoring a juried *art competition* for the design of *utility boxes* located in Shaker Heights. Local artists are invited to participate. Please download the *attached template and application*. All designs must be submitted electronically on the template provided. Designs and applications must be submitted to SHAC via email (info(a)shakerartscouncil.org) no later than *Friday 21 March** 2025.* Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 21 years old and live or work in Shaker Heights. Applicants who reside in the Shaker Heights School District or are a member of the Shaker Arts Council also are eligible. Learn how to become a member here <http://weebly-link/557831175676068622>. Artists whose designs have been installed in three (3) consecutive years may not apply. Applicants may submit more than one (1) design, but each must be submitted in a separate email. There are no entry fees. Artists retain all copyrights to their artwork. Artists whose designs are selected will receive a $500.00 stipend after the work is installed. All entries must be anonymous. *Do not sign your submittal nor indicate your name on the submitted design document.* André Taylor, Art Educator, will serve as this year’s jury chair. Since all of the boxes have slightly different dimensions, artists whose work is selected may have to reformat their designs to fit the matched boxes. Design Criteria: - Black or very dark backgrounds are not permitted. - Words are not permitted in the designs, per the City of Shaker Heights code. - Art created in non-digital media must be digitized for submittal. - Final designs must be submitted as camera-ready, 600 dpi files. By submitting a design proposal, all artists agree to: - allow SHAC to use images of the designs on printed materials, websites and social media for promotional purposes only; - allow SHAC to photograph the work; - allow SHAC to submit the proposal to the city’s Shaker Heights Arts Task Force for their final approval and to obtain the artist’s modification of the design, if necessary, to meet the city’s requirements. Cleveland Chamber Choir: Walk with us through 16th Century Manuta

The regional premier professional choral ensemble, the Cleveland Chamber Choir, will present the music of trailblazing Jewish Renaissance composer, Salamone Rossi on March 1st and 2nd. In "Synagogue and Salon: The Hebrew Psalms and Madrigals of Salamone Rossi", the Choir invites you on a walk through Renaissance-era Mantua, experiencing the music of the streets, the court, the salons, and the synagogues. They will share both the pioneering sacred choral music for Jewish services, and also the secular music Rossi wrote for the Court of Mantua, where he, along with his contemporary Monteverdi, was among the most celebrated of composers of the time. Delight in new Renaissance-style dances choreographed by Assistant Conductor Anna O’Connell and violinist Phaik Tzhi Chua. Enjoy instrumental accompaniment by Phaik Tzhi Chua (violin), Abigail Hakel-Garcia (violin), Jane Leggiero (cello), Natalie Mealey (organ), Adrian Murillo (theorbo), and Anna O’Connell (harp). The Choir will partner with the youth choir HaZamir Cleveland for these concerts. HaZamir is a youth movement that offers high schoolers the opportunity to learn and sing Jewish choral music, and create enduring friendships that transcend geographic, political, social, and denominational differences. Additional support is provided by a grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. Come see our last staged reading of the season this Saturday, March 1 at 7:30PM, 5-2, Eyes of Blue, an original play by Eric Mansfield. Directed by Brian Westerley. Stow Players is located at the Heritage Barn in Silver Springs Park, located at 5238 Young Rd in Stow. Cindy Goodweather, 26, won every acting honor while earning her theatre degree at Juilliard, but professional stage opportunities have proven elusive as she simply looks too young to be taken seriously. Frustrated by a problem others only wish they had and running out of money to continue living in NYC, Cindy accepts an offer from Eddie, a handsome young detective, to use her acting chops in an undercover sting operation. When her success at helping police to catch predators leads to widespread publicity, Cindy must choose between a life on the artificial stage saving teen girls and the bright lights of the theater stage where she longs to follow her dreams and showcase her talents to applauding crowds. Admission is free, but donations are welcome! A discussion with the playwright will take place after the performance.
