*Ensemble Theatre will be offering the 9th year of our FREE Summer Performing Arts Camp!* *When:* This year’s camp will run from *July 14th- July 25th, 2025!* Campers will present a final performance on the evening of the 25th! *Where:* *This year's camp will take place in various locations on the campus of John Carroll University!!1 John Carroll Blvd., University Hts., OH 44118. * *Ensemble Theatre’s Summer Performing Arts Camp* is a* FREE TWO WEEK CAMP* offered to students in the 5th-8th grade (or ages 10-13) who attend any Cuyahoga County Schools (or are homeschooled and residents of Cuyahoga County)! We will accept up to 20 students this summer! *Our Performing Arts camp will have the following focus areas:* *Theatre, Film*, and this year we continue to add a special drop in day of *Voice Overs!!* -We will also get to visit the amazing television studio on JCU's campus that is part of their communications department/program! *-We will also have drop ins from a local playwriting and acting professional from right here in THE LAND!! *-We are so excited to continue to offer this amazing curriculum. Students work on reading and writing skills, creation of basic props and set pieces, aspects of film that include green screens, practicals, slating and filming short teasers/commercials and more! They will work as small group ensembles learning the values of teamwork and creativity! Auditions for "Pressure"

Auditions! Arlene’s Broadway on Buffalo (ABOB) would like to invite you to audition at the theater 236 Buffalo Street, Conneaut Ohio 44030. Auditions will be held June 7th 1pm to 3pm and June 8th 7pm to 9pm. Pressure is a powerful, moving, historical drama by David Haig. Set in the days leading up to the D Day invasion, it deals with the timing of the mission based on the unpredictable British weather. Performance dates have been strategically selected to integrate with the nation’s largest D-Day re-enactment. Shows will be August 13, 14, 15, 22, 23 at 7:30 pm and August 24 at 2:30pm. This show requires 16 talented adult actors (2 women 14 men), ages 18-70, who have the range and depth to portray actual historical people operating under the pressures of war, command responsibility and deep personal concerns. Historical Characters General Dwight D Eisenhower (50s) - Ike is the Supreme Commander of the Allied forces. He is a powerful, competent man of good humor and quiet dignity, but capable of showing humility and vulnerability. Dr James Stagg (40s)— Stagg is fact-focused, blunt-speaking Scottish meteorologist who was been tasked to lead the weather task force which is the basis of this play. His great sense of responsibility and patriotism leads him to accept this post, despite very serious family issues at home. Colonel Irving Krick (late 30s)— Athough Krick is the American counterpart to Stagg on the meteorological task force, these men could not be more different. This conflict moves much of the action in the play, Irv is a slick, smooth-talking Hollywood weatherman. He is very competent, but has the impetuousness of his youth. Lt. Kay Summersby (30s) — In an environment dominated by male characters, Kay is the leading lady. Kay is the personal assistant to Ike. She is efficient, intelligent and compassionate. The great range and subtlety of her emotional responses makes this an absolute star vehicle and demands an actress of great skill. Sir Trafford Leigh-Mallory (50s) — British Air Chief Marshal Leigh-Mallory is a no nonsense, opinionated officer, personally chosen by Ike for this position, because of Leigh-Mallory’s expertise in the field of joint operations: cooperation and coordination between ground troops and Air forces. Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsay (60s)— Bertie is a career Royal navy man of Scottish heritage. Quiet, thoughtful, deliberate, he is the Commander in chief of the allied naval forces, and the man who orchestrated the evacuation of Dunkirk earlier in the war. General Carl A Spaatz (pronounced SPOTS) (50s)— “Tooey” is senior air commander in the European theater who initiated day time strategic bombing. This Pennsylvania native is a strong believer in taking the fight to the enemy. Fictional Characters Fl. Lt Andrew Carter (20s-40s) —young, enthusiastic and very excited to be working alongside Dr Stagg Young Meteorologist (20s-30s) — sharp, efficient, helpful Electrician (60s) — semi-retired British tradesman brought in to help install telephones. He is a talkative, unintentionally funny observer of the historical activity occurring around him Captain Johns (30s-50s) — excellent staff officer, keeps things running smoothly and all parties working efficiently Commander Franklin (20s-50s)- British meteorologist, quick witted, eager to help Lieutenant Battersby (20s-40s) — Youthful, keen meteorologist on the team An Aide, A Secretary, A Sailor — walk on, non speaking roles

The Blue Ribbon Trio Kicks Off Music at the Arboretum, Friday, May 23, 6:30 pm

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Friends of the Secrest Arboretum kick off their summer Music at the Arboretum concert series on Friday, May 23, 2025 with bluegrass group The Blue Ribbon Trio, comprised of NE Ohio musicians Ron Bonkowski, Paul Kovac, and Bill Lestock. Because of the weather, the concert will be held at the Secrest Welcome & Education Center. For more information call 419-853-6016. About the Musicians Bill Lestock plays original instrumental mandolin music, a compelling blend of bluegrass, old time, baroque and blues, perhaps best defined as “Modern Acoustic” music. It’s a deeply profound sound inspired from both the outside world and inside focus, woven from several walks of life. A firefighter in the city of Cleveland Ohio for 33 years, Bill incorporates melodies and imagery from a life and culture of firefighting.  Ron Bonkowski has been a familiar face and presence on the Bluegrass music scene for the last three decades. His distinctive dynamic rhythm guitar playing and versatile vocal abilities have been appreciated by many local and regional acts for years. He served as the veteran guitarist and vocalist for Buzz Matheson and Family Pride for 20 years, and has performed with Midnight Drive from Hermitage, PA, and Paul Kovac’s Big Grass Band from Kirtland, OH. Ron makes his home in Mantua, OH. Paul Kovac, bandleader/singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, is an expert in Bluegrass and Americana Roots music. Kovac has toured on three continents, has recorded 14 albums of his own, and has contributed to countless others.  He has performed with Hall of Famers Chet Atkins & Bill Monroe, and produced & performs in an instructional guitar DVD with Hee Haw’s Roy Clark.

With performances inspired by all things that go bump (and hump) in the night, he's been happily defiling every stage he's been on since 2022. Jo Rou (Featured Sketch Performer) is a trained performer, writer, improviser, and filmmaker through the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, New York, 2011-2020. She has written and starred in videos that have been featured on CollegeHumor, Funny or Die, Huffpost, Glamour, and E! Online. Having worked for The Onion, SNL, and Jimmy Kimmel Live, she now is bringing her offbeat, subversive, and heartfelt characters to CPT. Matthew Thompson (Featured Poet/Musician) known as MATTMATT, is a poet. Matthew released his debut mixtape FAGGOT RADIO: The Death Tape in 2021. In 2023, he dropped: "LAST 3 DAYS ON RYAN'S COUCH," "MOM (demo)," and PRAY FOR ME. Since 2018, he's produced three films, A Study of Him, A Love Joke, and Notes on Black Fame. A total of $18,500 in college scholarships will be awarded amongst the top 4 winners. The first-place winner's school music department will receive $2,500.
