*Lakewood’s Beck Center for the Arts Announce Auditions for “Mean Girls”* The NE Ohio locally produced premiere of the Broadway hit musical “*Mean Girls*” playing this summer on Beck Center’s Senney Main Stage will hold Open Call auditions by appointment only on *March 8th and March 9th*. Audition slots will begin with 6PM availability each day. To ensure an audition slot, interested performers should call Beck Patron Services at *216-521-2540* during regular business hours (Generally Noon to 8PM on weekdays, and various weekend hours.) Open Call Auditions can also take place by submitting a video if preferred. If called back, it is highly desirable that performers are able to appear at callbacks in person, however. *Callbacks* sessions will occur on *Sat., March 14th* and *Sunday, March 15th*. For initial auditions, please prepare one vocal selection that shows off your voice. This selection should not be more than 90 seconds in length. No monologues are required, and all dance calls will be held as part of the Callback process. The vast majority of roles are High School age-appearing. Requirements for auditions are that performers should be at least 16 years old as of Opening Night, July 10th, 2026 *Note*: Deadline for any video submissions is Friday, March 6th at 5PM. *Please submit to:* scottdavidspence(a)gmail.com *All roles are open* for “*Mean Girls*”. What happens when two sets of parents meet up to deal with the unruly behavior of their children? A calm and rational debate between grown-ups about the need to teach kids how to behave properly? Or a hysterical night of name-calling, tantrums and tears before bedtime? Boys will be boys, but the adults are worse – much worse. Tony and Olivier Award-winning God of Carnage is a comedy of manners, without the manners. CHARACTERS: Any age, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, body type, abilities, or other identities are encouraged to audition and will be considered equally in character casting, unless directly specified by the playwright as integral to their story. Age/age ranges, genders, and descriptions, if listed, are recommendations by the script but are flexible to interpretation. No roles for this production have been precast unless otherwise stated in marketing announcements regarding the auditions. VERONICA NOVAK (Female, Age Range 25+, All ethnicities) At first she seems like the most benevolent of the bunch. Instead of resorting to litigation regarding her son Henry’s injury, she believes that they can all come to an agreement about how Benjamin should make amends for his attack. Of the four principles, Veronica exhibits the strongest desire for harmony. MICHAEL NOVAK (Male, Age Range 25+, All ethnicities) At first, Michael seems eager to create peace between the two boys and perhaps even bond with the Raleigh’s. He offers them food and drink. He is quick to agree with the Raleigh’s, even making light of the violence, commenting on how he was a leader of his own gang during his childhood. ANNETTE RALEIGH (Female, Age Range 30+, All ethnicities) Ferdinand’s mother is constantly on the brink of a panic attack. In fact, she vomits twice during the course of the play. Unfortunately, the pressures of motherhood and household have eroded her self-confidence. Annette feels abandoned by her husband who is eternally preoccupied with work. Alan is glued to his cell phone throughout the play, until Annette finally loses control and drops the phone into a vase of tulips. Annette is the most physically destructive of the four characters. *Must be able to throw up believably onstage* ALAN RALEIGH (Male, Age Range 30+, All ethnicities) Alan might be the most stereotypical character of the group in that he is modeled after other slimy lawyers from countless other stories. He is the most openly rude because he frequently interrupts their meeting by talking on his cell phone. His law firm represents a pharmaceutical company that is about to be sued because one of their new products causes dizziness and other negative symptoms. He claims that his son is a savage and doesn’t see any point in trying to change him. He seems the most sexist of the two men, often implying that women have a host of limitations. Hard life, no filter, committed to her horses. - *Terrence Williams*: teenager (15+), African American male. Confident, directionless, could save the world or destroy his community. - *Maria Solano*: teenager (15+), Hispanic/Latino female. Urban-raised, career-focused, loyal. - *Salvador Molinaro*: older (60+), Italian man. “retired” mob man. Keeping a low profile, but still in charge. This non-union, paid, short film is a marketing asset (film festivals, resource presentations, brand-building) for the first film of a coming-of-age episodic drama. Cast will be expected to be on set not -to-exceed eight (8) hours on the day of the shoot. In addition to performance duties, cast will be expected to participate in one (1) recorded interview.
