Auditions for "The Secret Garden" presented by Stocker Arts Center THIS Wednesday, March 25, 2026 6:00pm - 10:30pm Book & Lyrics by Marsha Norman Music by Lucy Simon Based on the 1911 novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett Directed by Joanna May Cullinan Music Direction by Anthony Trifiletti Auditions will take place in the Dance Studio in Stocker Arts Center (on the campus of Lorain County Community College), Wednesday, March 25, from 6 pm - 10:30 pm. Audition time slots are 5 minutes. ALL roles are open! AEA contracts are available. Non-equity actors appearing will be paid a stipend. Adults: Please prepare 2 contrasting cuts in the style of the show, not to exceed 3 minutes total. Kids under 16 (auditioning for the roles of Mary or Colin): Please prepare one short selection to sing in the style of the show or from the show, not to exceed 90 seconds. The Willoughby Summer Theater Festival is holding auditions for its *6th summer season* featuring two exciting productions. Performances are *free to the public* and will feature talented performers from across Northeast Ohio. This season includes *Murder on the Orient Express*, a fully staged production of Agatha Christie’s classic mystery, and *Salute to America Celebrating 250 Years*, a musical review honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States featuring song, music, and spoken word. A *small stipend is available for performers in Salute to America.* *Auditions* Saturday March 28, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday March 29, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM *Location* Andrews Osborne Academy Osborne Building Performing Arts Theater 38588 Mentor Avenue Willoughby, Ohio *What to Prepare* For Salute to America bring a song in the style of the show (about 3 minutes) with sheet music for the accompanist. For Murder on the Orient Express prepare a memorized monologue (about 90 seconds). Actors may also be asked to read from the script. Gale McNeeley will bring to life Archy, the Poetic Cockroach, and Mehitabel, the morally careless alley cat, on Sunday March 29 at 6:00 PM at the Clague Playhouse, 1371 Clague Road in Westlake. This is a special performance to celebrate the birth of Archy & Mehitabel in the New York Sun column of Don Marquis, March 29, 1916. Their wit and wisdom have been entertaining audiences ever since. They were the subjects of a 1950s musical with Carol Channing and Eddie Bracken. Now the poems and songs are brought to life through the performance magic of Gale McNeeley. “This is adult fare with an innocent heart.” Born in Cleveland, Gale’s career took him from the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival to Broadway with Christopher Plummer in the musical, “Cyrano.” Gale has appeared in movies, on TV, in Cabaret , circus and in Regional Theatre. Gale toured his one-man show around the country in 2016 to celebrate Archy and Mehitabel’s hundredth anniversary. This performance, hosted by the Clague Playhouse, continues Gale’s tradition. There is no charge for this first-come-first-seated hour of comedy, wit and satire, but Free Will Offerings will be Happily Accepted.
