DANCE, THEATRE & MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS - LORAIN RESIDENTSAGES 13 TO 19 Beyond Institute, an arts institute based out of California and Ohio is now offering Full Ride Scholarships to anyone living in Lorain, Ohio for their Summer Program. Scholarships may also transfer into a yearly scholarship depending upon the dedication of the student. The institute offers classes in singing/vocals, acting, poetry/creative writing and dance. We will be offering 10 scholarships to male and female students between the ages of 13 and 19, which includes 2 free classes per week in any of the above courses. Private classes are also available in any style of dance, singing or acting from levels beginning to advanced. Dance classes include beginning to advanced ballroom, ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, musical theatre, and tap. Dayton-born Mary Illes, a singular talent with a range of Broadway (“She Loves Me”) and national tour (“The Secret Garden”) experience, comes to Cleveland via Zoom for an evening of live virtual Q&A, which is free and open to the public. Her extensive resume also includes originating the role of Golde in “Fidler afn Dakh,” the widely acclaimed Yiddish version of the enduring musical “Fiddler on the Roof.” The musical, directed by Joel Grey an mounted by the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene in 2018, opened at lower Manhattan's Museum of Jewish Heritage for a six-week run, which was extended multiple times before transferring to off-Broadway by popular demand. This role requires leadership and initiative, is part of a team-driven staff, and reports to the Associate Artistic Director/Director of Production. The Technical Director manages and implements all technical aspects of productions except costumes for CPT's season of full productions (6-10); three new work developmental series; Pandemonium (a massive annual event); Station Hope (a one day social justice festival); as well as other artistic projects and productions. CPT programs in two theatres and embraces the opportunity to produce theatre in nontraditional spaces. For the 21/22 Season, the Technical Director will handle all builds, lighting, video, and sound installations with some support from over-hire technicians when needed. The Technical Director will be integral to rebuilding the production department in recruitment and hire one full-time technician that will report to the TD for the 22/23 season. The role is responsible for the oversight of CPT's scene shop and technical equipment. The TD will have the opportunity to work as an artist at CPT and continue their own artistic growth. Candidates must have four years of full-time technical theatre work or equivalent as a freelancer and have excellent technical skills in at least three of the following areas: sound design/sound technician, lighting design/master electrician work, video design/implementation, scenic design, and set construction. The successful candidate will be collaborative, eager to learn new ways of working, service oriented, and highly self-motivated. Salary range is $36k to $42k. Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is hiring a part-time Pandemonium Intern. This role brings a meaningful contribution to life at CPT and its success. CPT will be accepting applications for this position through May 31, 2021. ________________________________ JOB DESCRIPTION Every September, Cleveland Public Theatre hosts its one and only fundraising spectacular: Pandemonium. It takes over 6 months to plan; hosts over 1,400 guests, 300 artists who donate their time, and 150 volunteers; and raises between $250,000 and $315,000 each year for our programming. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pandemonium 2020 was adapted into Awakenings: A Virtual Gala, which premiered a one-hour special on WKYC Channel 3, followed by a virtual After-Party on Zoom. We are excited to return to our in-person festival in 2021 and are planning all necessary precautions to ensure this will be a safe and unforgettable event. There is a great need for extra help in the summer as the event approaches. In this capacity, the intern would work directly with our Director of Organizational Advancement and other Development staff on a wide variety of event planning tasks. These tasks include, among others: proofreading content, coordinating mailing lists, liaising with vendors, helping to orient the volunteers, co-managing day-of guest registration, and building relationships with ticket buyers and sponsors. Because of the large-scale nature of Pandemonium, the intern plays an essential role in coordinating the many moving parts leading up to the event, and ensuring a smooth process day-of. A positive attitude, ability to maintain accurate attention to many details, and strong customer service skills are great assets. While the largest project the intern would undertake is preparation for Pandemonium, in the true spirit of CPT's work culture, we may also call upon the intern to support the marketing, box office, finance, and/or artistic departments, especially in any area of interest for the intern. We will provide ample training for all required tasks. Pandemonium will be held on September 18, 2021, with the bulk of the work taking place in the months prior. The intern receives one guest ticket and is welcome to enjoy the event after guest registration has ended. ________________________________ Compensation: $10-11 per hour commensurate with experience Anticipated Start Date: July 12, 2021 *Must be available all day on Saturday, September 18 Hours: Minimum 10 hours per week; may go up to 20 hours per week in late August and September ________________________________ ABOUT CPT CPT cares passionately about reflecting our community and pursuing diversity at all levels of the organization.
