On July 12, in collaboration with the Wadsworth Public Library, ORMACO offers An Afternoon of Marimba with Ryun Louie and Friends at 2 pm. Ryun Louie is the Artistic Director of Studio Louie in Medina, Ohio, and a founding member of the Pana Percussion Quartet. He has served as Director of Percussion for the Wadsworth and Medina City School Districts for the last 15 years. Today’s concert features students past and present from Wadsworth and Medina as well as the Pana Percussion Quartet. The solo and ensemble pieces you will hear are done while practicing social distancing and are prerecorded in the musicians' own homes or studios. Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) continues its summer Jazz under the Stars concert series with the Akron-based ensemble Open Spaces Trio streamed live on July 11, 2020, at 7 pm. The ensemble takes songs you may have forgotten about and reinvents them into creative, dynamic experiences. Drawing from a diverse repertoire of jazz, Americana, rock folk and other genres, the trio loves to explore taking what’s familiar and expanding it. Brent Hamker’s vibrant guitar solos, Matthew DeRubertis’s growing, atmospheric bass sounds and Holbrook Riles III’s masterful drumming crafts whatever song they’ve chosen to play into a sonic journey. TMP School of Dance FALL 2020-SPRING 2021 • ENROLLING NOW! The Movement Project School of Dance is the official school of professional Cleveland based Modern dance company The Movement Project. The Movement Project, was founded in 2009, and has been performing throughout the northeast Ohio area as a staple in the dance community. Since it's start TMP has provided quality and affordable dance education through their outreach in schools and community centers, summer dance intensives, and workshops/master classes. In Fall 2017 The Movement Project opened their School of Dance as a home for weekly youth dance classes. All classes are taught by The Movement Project's professional educators. As a dance school we strive to build meaningful connections to youth and families in our community by providing affordable youth dance education that focuses on a well rounded curriculum, a professional environment, and a safe and exciting space that cultivates learning! Seeking actors for a short original work by an Ohio playwright with the theme of BLACKLIVESMATTER entitled "You People". Male, black, 35-45 Male, caucasian, 35-45 The actors would memorize the script then record it using an online videoconferencing service. The recording would be posted on Equality Production websites in July. Actors must have a webcam or phone with a camera for the recording. In today's climate, the world can sometimes feel overwhelming, encircling, or suffocating. We want to know what art helps you breathe? What gives you the urge to do or feel? SHAC is presenting these classes July 12 – August 7, 2020 as part of* Stay-in-Place Productions*, the arts council’s response to COVID -19 *Art Classes* Appreciating Photography Program Description: A survey of creative photography to see how different image makers have used the camera to create meaning throughout the history of the medium. Instructor: Benjamin Hauser Building An Online Craft Business Using Etsy Program Description: Etsy is a popular marketplace for selling handmade goods. Learn to open your own shop and build your online business. Topics include creating compelling listings, finding your target customers, getting found in search, branding, marketing, taking good photos, pricing strategies, and customer service. Instructor: Karen Koch Class Piano Program Description: Class Piano provides students with an exploration of the piano and beginning musical concepts such as high vs. low, piano orientation, steady beat/rhythm patterns and playing/reading music. This exploratory course is great for students to find out if they might be interested in beginning piano lessons or for students who have already begun piano lessons. Students will participate in a variety of games and activities in each session. Instructor: Alex Piepenbrink Chalk Pastel Portraits Program Description: Chalk Pastel Portraits is a course that teaches students to use chalk pastel to render the likeness of a face. We will study the proportions from different angles of the face and techniques for blending and matching colors of skin tones and textures for hair. Students should have chalk pastels, and a recommended supply list will be provided. Instructor: Casandra Harner Graffiti: Text as Image Program Description: Graffiti is ubiquitous in major cities, but more than being an eyesore, it has actually gone through it's own artistic evolution. This series will explore how graffiti artists develop letters and how the interaction between text and image can be blurred. We will learn how to draw block letters as well as using color, shape, and line to express our own personal message. Instructor: Ki Charm John Kim Handcrafted Paper Art Program Description: Create a hand-crafted object out of paper, flour, water and decorate! Paper mache can be used to build masks, wall art, pencil holders, vases, even model animals! We’ll build our frame from newspaper/circulars and small amount of flour paste. The second session we cover our creations in paper mache. The last day we decorate the dried object using paint or materials from around the house.
