TMP SUMMER INTENSIVE 2020PRE-PROFESSIONAL (12 - 18 YRS)VIDEO AUDITION SUBMISSION OPEN NOW! This one week intensive is geared for serious-minded dancers interested in furthering themselves as creative artists and who wish to deepen and grow their technical and performance knowledge. This intensive provides a rigorous daily schedule in professional training, creative practice and rehearsals taught by TMP artistic directors, company members, as well as notable guest artists in the dance community. The program will focus on modern dance technique, contemporary, ballet, improvisation, composition, injury prevention and somatic practices. In addition to movement courses, the program includes courses designed to prepare young artists for a career in dance, such as, resume building, dance on film and marketing. As part of our marketing course, each artist will receive dance action shots for their portfolio. Dancers who participate in the summer intensive are also eligible to become a TMP community ambassador for the 2020-2021 season. In these unprecedented times, the dance community including pre-professional, collegiate & professional dancers, teachers & choreographers have all been impacted in a way that many have never experienced in their lifetimes. With this in mind we are grateful to announce The Movement Project's Cleveland Dance Fest <http://www.themovementproject.org/cdf2020-app> is set to return for its 5th season, November 6th & 7th, 2020 at the beautiful Pilgrim Church in Tremont! The 2-day festival will feature master classes by CDF artists and performances featuring Cleveland dance artists, visiting artists and pre-professional artists. CDF 2020 will be taking applications for performance pieces and dance films beginning April 1st, 2020. CDF has four applications this year for artists to apply. Show 1 & Show 2 - open to professional artists (independent artists & dance companies) Emerging Works Concert - open to emerging artists (college artists & works in progress) Youth Showcase - open to pre-professional youth dance groups ages 12-18 years old Dance on Film (NEW THIS YEAR!) - open to all artists over 18! Twin Masks Performing Arts Center (TMPAC), a not-for-profit performing arts organization, recognizes the need to support artists in our own communities, in particular, playwrights, whose work contributes to the growth, education and appreciation of a diverse audience base, while simultaneously giving area artists more opportunities to develop their craft. With this in mind, TMPAC is proud to announce its first artist-in-residence program beginning January 1, 2021 named in honor and in memory of our co-founder, Douglas Lillibridge. The program is open to playwrights ages 21+ who currently reside in one of the following Ohio counties: Cuyahoga, Geauga, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne. *Please read and review the outline below for details regarding this program*. 1. The work must be original and not have been workshopped, or performed, with any other U.S.-based theatre company (professional and/or non-professional), and/or educational program. 2. The piece must be at least 90 minutes in performance length, and the script written (and performed) in U.S. English. 3. Cast of characters: no less than 2, no more than 8. 4. The show will be performed in our theatre space* in Twinsburg, OH. 5. The piece should be geared to an adult audience (no children’s theatre). 6. SUBMISSION DEADLINE: October 2, 2020. Included in your submission, please provide an essay (500 words or less) on how this program will help you as an artist and playwright. 1. Please be sure to include your complete contact information, including name, address, phone, email with your submission. 7. Send A COPY (no originals, please) to: claudia(a)twinmasks.org 1. Finalists for this program will be asked to meet with members of the TMPAC board between October and December, 2020. The artist chosen will receive a stipend of $10,000.00 for one-year payable in two installments, based on the following: 1. The script will be presented as a work in progress in June 2021. Based on the evolution of the script and status of the workshopped production, the playwright will receive the first installment of $5,000.00 in June, 2021. 2. The show will continue to be workshopped in the second half of the year with a scheduled performance before December 31, 2021. After the close of the performance, the playwright will receive the second installment (no later than January 15, 2022). 3. The artist will work in collaboration with a director and cast to workshop the script and prepare for the performance in December. (Director and cast members are not remunerated for their participation.) *The TMPAC performance space affords flexible seating for no more than 50 individuals. It is a true black box and open performance space. There is no proscenium, and no designated back stage or wings (left, right or above). Hi, We are offering 2 online classes per week for the month of April, starting Tuesday April 7th. Youth Online Zoom Acting & Screenwriting Classes (April 2020) Tuesdays & Thursdays 430-530P Every Tuesday @ 430PM Jessica Houde-Morris and Diane Frankhauser will be holding Online Zoom Acting Classes fro Young Actors. This class includes warmups, improv games and self tape critiques. Each student will turn in a self tape prior to the class and will be critiqued live. Every Thursday @ 430PM, Joe Quinn will be holding Online Zoom Screenwriting Classes for Young Actors. In this class students will learn story telling techniques, structure, and proper formatting for screenwriting. While this is adisappointing turn of events, the health and safety of our patrons, artists and staff is, of course, of prime concern in the current circumstances.
