Cairo (17-19-year-old, African American, male) Cairo is Jackson’s outspoken and boisterous best friend. He is complacent with his current lifestyle and pressures Jackson to commit the robbery. Mr. Tate (40-70+, male) Mr. Tate is the victim of the robbery. He is a cranky recluse and mystery to the neighborhood but is rumored to have $100,000 inside his home. A back injury caused him to walk hunched over. Donovan (40-60-year-old, African American, male) Donovan is Jackson’s father. He is an honest, hardworking man trying to make a way for his family, but the stress of money continuously hovers over him and his marriage. Review of "Heroes" at Clague Playhouse

Clague Playhouse’s ‘Heroes’ attacks from the rear Bob Abelman Cleveland Jewish News, The News Herald, The Morning Journal French playwright Gérald Sibleyras’ “Le Vent Des Peupliers,” which has been translated into English by British playwright Tom Stoppard and retitled “Heroes,” is a modest work affectionately referred to as a “boulevard comedy.” Like a boulevard, it is broad in terms of its humor, well-manicured in its demeanor, and trotted upon by everyday people going about their everyday business. It is 1959 when we encounter three aging World War I veterans on the terrace of their nursing home. There, they address a range of small topics that loom large for old men with nothing but time on their hands and fleeting memories of glory days on their increasingly fragile minds. It is quite impossible to ignore that the maladies of old age and world-wide warfare serve as the source material for this comedy, which can be a tough row to hoe for an audience without the benefit of French sensibilities or a British sense of humor. Clague audiences are likely to find that the primary pleasure in this production lies not in the work but in watching three brilliant, seasoned professionals at work under Anne McEvoy’s gentle direction. She massages rather than mauls the play’s funny bone and instead of the frontal assault the comedy has the potential to be, she allows “Heroes” to subtly approach the audience from the rear. Cleveland Dance Project Company is a 501c3 nonprofit contemporary fusion company that aims to provide dance & performance opportunities to the advanced dancer, create exciting new work that engages its audience, and expose the community to art in a way they may not have previously experienced. We are seeking dancers, ages 18+, for our 2020 season (Short & long term contracts available), who have strong ballet & jazz foundations, as well as commercial dance proficiencies. These dancers receive company class, CDP master classes, waived showcase tuition if they choose to participate in the great CDP family, injury prevention screens and tips with access to our company physical therapist, headshots, and a supportive dance family to grow with! Dancers who audition will also receive feedback from our judging panel via email afterwards if they are interested in growth. TABLE READ FOR SHORT SCRIPT

I am seeking four college students (20-22) to perform a table read of my short script which I plan on shooting this summer. There are 2 female characters: Alexis - rich, rather odd and eccentric who holds a secret Jil - an art major Pat- psychology major Ken-not revealed in script 1 narrator (Me) Though I would prefer students with a familiarity with a table read of a script (film majors) it is not necessary. A head shot is also preferred, but again not necessary. There'll be food and drinks available. If all goes well, I'm thinking an hour to read the script. It is 25 pages long. I will forward a copy of the script to those I choose for the read which may lead into playing the role itself. Please reply with the dates and times you will or can be available. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone is doing a show that has ANY connection with climate action where we could set up a table in the lobby. Heroes By Gerald Sibleyras, Translated by Tom Stoppard Directed by Anne McEvoy Show Dates: January 17 - February 9, 2020 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm It is August 1959, France, in a home for retired military men, where World War I vets Henri (Bob Goddard), Philippe (Ron Newell) and Gustave (Robert Hawkes) pass their days gossiping, reminiscing and exasperating one another with harebrained schemes to escape. The play is a softly heroic treatment of three war heroes for whom death is a familiar presence. They decide to take on one final adventure - granted, an impossible and faintly ridiculous adventure - before the outside world completely forgets them. Gerald Sibleyras' Heroes, as directed by Anne McEvoy, runs January 17th through February 9th. Show tickets are $18 for adults, $17 for seniors (60+), and $10 for students (any age with a valid ID) and we're honored to offer special admission price of $15 for Veterans for performances of Heroes.
