Please join us! Workshop Players has Magic to do! Director Dave MacKeigan is holding auditions for *Pippin*, (by Stephen Schwartz, with book by Roger O. Hirson) on Monday, January 20 and Tuesday, January 21 at 7 p.m. at the theater, located at 44820 Middle Ridge Road, Amherst, OH 44001. Music director is Jayne Kacik. Auditioners should prepare 32 bars of a contemporary musical theater song (1970's and on, preferably not from this show). Accompanist will be provided. NO A CAPELLA! Bring sheet music for the accompanist. Director is seeking actors age 18 and up, except for Theo, who must play 6-9 years old. *(This role is precast) The Leading Player *master OR mistress of ceremonies – GREAT dancer. Gender: Any. Age: as long as you can still dance. Vocal range: Db3 – Ab4 *Pippin *Our story’s young and confused protagonist. He is longing to find his purpose in life. Naive, innocent, and discontented. Gender: Male Age: 18 to 29 Vocal range: G2 – Ab4 *King Charlemagne *Pippin’s demanding father. As the King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. He wears his years with great pride. Gender: Male. Age: 50 to 60 Vocal range: G2 – E4 *Lewis *Pippin’s body-building, pretty boy brother. Not the brightest. Gender: Male. Age: 23-33 Vocal Range: doesn’t matter *Fastrada *Pippin’s conniving stepmother. A seductress, who is no stranger to deceit and betrayal, she is both sexy and smart. Gender: Female. Age: 35 to 50 Vocal range: A3 – F5 *(This role is precast) Berthe *Pippin’s saucy grandmother. A brassy broad full of wisdom, grace, and sass. She tries to help Pippin and encourages him to live his life to the fullest. Gender: Female. Age: late 50s – 70’s Vocal range: E3 – C5 *Catherine *A young widow and mother. She is a beautiful and a hopeless romantic, who possesses graceful elegance. Falls in love with Pippin. Gender: Female. Age: 20 to 30 Vocal range: F#3 – Db5 *Theo *Catherine’s son. Age: 6 - 9 *Ensemble*: Charlemagne’s Army, Monks, Nobility, Peasants, The Players – dance ability is a plus for this production. Hi! Houde School Of Acting is now offering an 8-Week Musical Theater course for kids and teens! What’s Included? - 1 Class Per Week - Will Learn Their Vocal Range, The Audition Process, Movement & Dance, And Theater Etiquette - Will Perform One Audition Song At Showcase For Parents At Conclusion We will start this course at the beginning of February, the exact date is TBA. Please contact back with any interest. This course is open to kids ages 6-16 and costs $200 for 8 classes and includes a showcase. It will be taught by Kat Kellie, please see more about Kat below. About Kat Kellie Kat joined The Houde School of Acting as a student in 2017 and joined the teaching staff in 2019. She began her teaching career in high school giving flute and music theory lessons to younger students, and moved on to teach music and theater across the country with various organizations including Kindermusik, Weathervane Playhouse, Children’s Stage Adventures, and now The Houde School of Acting. Kat studied Arts Administration and Music Performance at SUNY Fredonia, where she was also captain of Poetry in Motion Winterguard. After leaving college she toured with a children’s theater company before settling down in Cleveland, where she has had the incredible fortune of working on numerous wonderful theatrical and film projects. EVENT: Lead Actor Wanted for Dover Players' New Mystery Play, "The Boyfriend". Actor Wanted for Lead Role: Timothy Johnson, playing age 25 - 35 Synopsis: The mystery. Who is the boyfriend - that charming, but strange young man with no past? Is he a psychopathic serial killer, a victim of a paranoid father's vivid imagination or something different altogether? It is a bit of CSI, a dash of Hitchcock and just a pinch of Serling. ("The Boyfriend" is written and directed by Greg Lavelle.) Performance Location: The North Olmsted United Methodist Church 4600 Dover Center Road Performance Schedule: To be performed the second, third and fourth weekends in March in North Olmsted. Calling advanced/professional dancers, ages 18+, who have a strong technique background in ballet/jazz with proficiency in commercial styles, for Cleveland Dance Project Company's 2020 season. CDP Company is a 501c3 nonprofit contemporary fusion company that aims to provide dance & performance opportunities to the advanced dancer, create exciting new work that engages its audience, and expose the community to art in a way they may not have previously experienced. Auditions are on Sunday January 19, 2020 at Dance Studio M in Solon from 1-4pm. Dancers must pre-register online and bring a headshot and resume to auditions. We received over 700 submissions from playwrights from the East Coast to the West Coast and many other countries around the globe. The Fine Arts Association is thrilled to present these new works. Opportunity for Artists - working with Kids in Akron Elementary Schools

Good afternoon! I am posting the following to this community, hoping to find artists available and interested in volunteering one afternoon each week to helping kids in the Akron area to be successful in school, and in life. This YMCA after school program has been in place since 2015 (in various forms), but has not had a solid arts component. It would be so wonderful for the kids if we had Mentors who could bring some artistic lessons or activities to the program. For example: Playing the guitar or keyboard and adding a music lesson - teaching a song or teaching about the instruments; Helping the kids with unique and fun physical activities incorporating dance and music; Exposing the kids to new art mediums and projects; Improv and acting exercises, etc. The Mentors in the program volunteer one day each week from about 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.(Mon. - Thurs.) for 10 weeks. There are a number of sites in Akron where we still need volunteers for spring sessions beginning Jan. 27th or Feb. 4th. The Akron Area YMCA provides all materials, supplies and training (if needed) to our Mentors, and will provide structured lessons if that if preferred. Mentors volunteer approximately 3 hours of their time each week at an Akron Area YMCA After School site. This rewarding opportunity is open to those in high school and beyond. The ideal Mentor is reliable, organized, punctual, and has a great passion for helping children succeed in school and in life. In addition, there are a number of career-oriented internships available for college students with the Youth Development Program. Set in a Paris apartment, *BOEING BOEING* by Marc Camoletti, Beverley Cross, and Francis Evans tells the story of Bernard, a playboy architect with a fondness for becoming engaged to stewardesses - one Italian, one German and one American. When weather and speedier jets conspire, the lothario faces catastrophe as all three fiancées land simultaneously. Mixups, confusion, merry misadventures and mistaken identities keep the laughs coming in this 2008 winner of the Tony for Best Revival of a Play. *Paula Kline-Messner* returns to the ACT stage to direct *Rob Albrecht *as Bernard; *Claudia Lillibridge*, his exhausted, exasperated housekeeper, Berthe; and *Chris Bizub*, Bernard’s visiting friend from Wisconsin, Robert.
