The couple haunts the location to this day. Noted seer, Simone the Psychic, with help from the audience will attempt to contact the ghosts of Morgo and Clarissa. Summer auditions and soon to be Fall auditions are here! Will you be prepared? Dr. Christopher Hutton, baritone, is taking new voice students and excited to get you physically and mentally prepared for auditions and performances. Dr. Hutton has a Masters Degree and Doctorate of Music Arts degrees in Vocal Pedagogy (Science of Singing) from Arizona State University, and is fluent in teaching both belting/music theatre technique and classical technique. Christopher attended Youngstown State University where he received his Bachelors in Voice Performance. He has also performed opera at regional opera houses for over thirteen years. Dr. Hutton offers free consultations to those interested before committing to the voice studio. You may contact Dr. Hutton via email at cjhutton70@yahoo. Gospel Meets Symphony Choir seeking members for GMS 2.0 The Akron Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the formation of Gospel Meets Symphony 2.0, the first junior gospel choir in the 25-year history of the Gospel Meets Symphony Choir. Gospel Meets Symphony 2.0 is designed for performers ages 12-18 to work with the Gospel Meets Symphony Choir under the direction of Choirmaster Jonathon Turner. The junior choir will consist of 30 to 40 members and will perform during the Akron Symphony Orchestra's annual Gospel Meets Symphony concert. An informational session for interested students and parents will be held on October 23 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, which is located at 263 E. Mill St. in Akron. The session will include an overview of the program, along with the requirements and expectations for participating in Gospel Meets Symphony 2.0. Gospel Meets Symphony, which has been an Akron tradition since 1994, annually performs some of the world's most uplifting, spirit-filled gospel and classical music under the direction of Akron Symphony Orchestra Music Director Christopher Wilkins and Gospel Meets Symphony Choirmaster Jonathon Turner. "It has been a creative high point for GroundWorks to be able to collaborate with Brian Brooks on the creation of this new work and to bring it to our audience," commented Executive Artistic Director David Shimotakahara. "For me personally, it has been a privilege to be able to observe the work of such an established artist unfold. His work constantly allows us to discover new connections, without asserting a particular interpretation. It is about form and action, and that speaks volumes." The fall series will also feature the return of two distinctive works from GroundWorks' repertory: Remora, choreographed by Eric Michael Handman<https://groundworksdance.org/portfolio-items/eric-handman/?portfolioCats=93> and Chromatic, choreographed by David Shimotakahara<https://groundworksdance.org/about/david-shimotakahara/>. Originally created for GroundWorks in 2015, Remora is rooted in its physicality, the demands of its execution, its complexities and its nuances of timing, which together exert a compelling experience that we connect with outside of any particular narrative. Choreographer Eric Handman is also an Associate Professor at the University of Utah's Department of Modern Dance. "While researching music for Chromatic," says Shimotakahara, "I came across Conlon Nancarrow's work by accident. I was immediately taken by its idiosyncratic qualities and unique sound. His experimentation, composing on player piano rolls as a way of layering complex rhythmic and tempo changes, gives his work a certain driven, automated quality. Also in Nancarrow's music you hear all types of social dance forms - tango and dance hall rhythms and themes. I was inspired by this juxtaposition, a mash up of influences, from which something very human and almost whimsical emerges." Chromatic was originally created and staged in 2016.
